chapter seven
After finishing the picnic and talking a walk, and what I suppose Mark would classify as "a little smooch" in the woods, we all packed into the car again. So far I had really enjoyed the day, and Hazelwoods had indeed been the perfect place to start the day off, that calm, romantic atmosphere was set to make anyone relax!
Next stop was indeed his brother's stables, and so he made my major dream come true. I was introduced to a couple of horses, and even thought it had been a while since I'd been in a stable the last time, but I'd always loved horses, so it was really nice. Shane decided to talk one of the horses out for a ride, and me, Mark and Lorraine stood looking on by the fence. I watched him intensely, the horse was very nice, but then, so was the rider...
I dunno for how long I stood there dreaming, but I was interrupted when Shane stopped the horse in front of us and jumped off. He took the horse over to the fence, to talk a bit, and the horse managed to nudge my hair. I pulled away, giggling, "You cheeky horse, that's hair and not hay!" Shane started laughing and before long we had all joined in. "So, Nikki, you've been horse-riding before yeah?" Shane said when we finally calmed down. I just looked at him, "Yes..." "So, wanna come for a ride?" At this point I was shocked, this was even better than anything I had dreamt about! "Well... it was a long time ago..." Shane looked at me, I'll go with you then, he said, and took the saddle off the horse while Liam, Shane's brother came over with a riding hat. Shane gently helped me up on the horse, and then he jumped up himself.
We rode around for a while and I enjoyed every minute of sitting in front of him on the horse, after all, he had to have his arms around me. Suddenly, he stopped the horse. "We're alone..." he whispered, softly. I looked around, indeed we were. He draped his arms closer around me, "Are you enjoying yourself?" "Yeah..." I felt faint, cos at this stage I looked up and we were soaking in each others eyes once again...
"So, I think we should go and see where the others are gone to," Shane declared, jumped off the horse and helped me down. I fell into his arms, "Careful love..." he bent over and kissed me softly, it wasn't the easiest business with him holding the horse and still in the riding hats but still enjoyable. "Will you help me get the horse inside?" "Yeah..."
When the horse was inside the stable again, safe and sound, we went to look for the others. We finally found them sitting at the car, happily munching away on some stuff that were leftover from our lunch. "Back so soon..?" Mark said teasingly looking up at us, causing the two off them to get into a friendly play fight. I just looked at Lorraine, who leaned over, "Boys will be boys..." and with that the two off us was off giggling again.
I had had a lovely day, but it was time to go home again, dropping the other two off at Mark's house, we set off for Dublin. The drive was quite long, but we had a fun time chatting away. When we was almost at my house I phoned to check, but as I'd thought my mum wasn't in, so Shane got to drop me at my door, he said he just wanted to make sure I got home alright as he had the responsibility for me. He kissed me goodbye and promised to phone me the following day.
When I were laying in bed that evening I thought the day over. Shane had been so nice, and it had almost been too good to be true. After all, he was a pop star, but he hadn't even used the fact to get to me. He was clearly worried about whether I went out with him because of his fame or because of him. I hadn't been sure in the morning, but now I was, it wasn't his fame attracting me...
