chapter three
The bang that closed the door told her that Kian had come back in. She didn't feel like talking to him now. He didn't know why she had run away at the doctor’s office. And there was no way she would be able to tell him now. She hoped he wouldn't come to look for her here. But of course he did...
"Well?" Esther didn't look up. She was just thinking about Peter again. He had been called to the doctor’s office to run a few tests as well. "HEY I asked you something! Running away was a lot easier right? What possessed you to do that? Great person are you! First you don't say a word and then you run away. Please correct me if I'm wrong." She still didn't speak a word. Her mind was somewhere else... at a funeral, so long ago but still so clear in her mind. For anyone else it might have been a "case" but for her it was a great loss. She still missed him, even after all this time...
"Are you gonna answer me?" Kian grabbed her and turned her round. He was quite angry with her by now, and she could bet he just wasn't going to leave it at this. "Come on, give me..." Her face made him stop his sentence. She seemed so sad... he started to feel sorry for her. "Sorry Kian, I didn't mean to make you look bad or anything, I just had to get away from there." She watched his face closely. The thought arose in her mind that it might be the last time she saw him. With the thought came the tears, and the memories...
"Ahhh, what am I gonna do with you? You sure know my soft spot!" He pulled her in and held her close to him. He didn't have a clue of what was bothering her. "Can you tell me now?" She looked in his eyes. So blue... She could feel herself falling in them, drowning in them. "Hey girlie, I asked ya something. Can you stop admiring my eyes for a moment?" She couldn't help but laugh at it. "They are sooo beautiful! It's just very nice to watch them!" Kian started to tickle her playfully. "Come on now, laugh!" She tried to get away from him but he was just too strong for her.
"SURRENDER!!! GOTCHA NOW!!" He had her in a firm grip, one she could never escape. She was facing him, and she couldn't help it. Unaware of all the love that showed in them, her eyes found his once more. Kian looked down on her. There was an expression on her face that could not be misinterpreted... Before he knew what he was doing he leaned in to kiss her. Esther didn't know what happened to her. She could feel Kian’s lips on hers. She closed her eyes and just enjoyed the kiss. It was what she had hoped for and more...
