shane's story

shane’s story - chapter four

Shane was feeling quite nervous on his way to Louis’ office. He had talked to the others last night and they were to show up too. Shane imagined they were all in for a yell. Again!

"You guys are very successive. Very good. After Shane’s oh so brilliant step out in the press Sunday, Ronan and I had a chat yesterday and came to the agreement that you’ve shown us you can do it. Your success can stand girlfriends, marriages etc. So we’ve had a new contract drawn up for you." Louis reached into his folder and took out the papers. "Read this and tell me what you think!" He handed a copy out to all five boys. "In return of removing the no marriage and kids clause, I expect you guys to be ours for at least two more years. It’s written into the new contract!"

The lads mumbled a bit between them and started reading through the copies of the contract.

Shane had the weirdest feeling inside him. He had expected to be yelled at and told off. This was like the ticket to freedom. "Does this mean that I can bring Nana around whenever I like?" Shane asked and looked challenging at Louis. The other lads looked attentive at the both of them. Louis nodded. "And that we can have kids when we want to?" Shane continued. Louis nodded again. Shane rose and threw the papers carelessly on Louis’ desk. "If you can come up with a proper apology for yesterday, then I just might sign it. You can find me on my mobile!"

Nicky, Bryan, Mark, Kian and Louis just sat there starring at the closed door for a while. "What the hell?" Louis said dumbfounded. The other lads looked a bit insecure around at each other. "What is he thinking off?" Louis continued.

Kian rose and put his copy on the desk. "I support Shane," he said. "You were totally out of line yesterday." Louis didn’t believe his own ears. Nicky and Bryan rose and put their papers with the others. "Count us in!" Bryan said. "Me too!" Mark put his papers down. Then he rose and left with the others.

"Okay, okay!" Louis shouted after the boys. They came back! "You win, I’ll give Shane an apology." He took his phone and called Shane.

"I just can’t believe it turned out like this," Nicky said cheerfully, shaking his head. "Cheers on that, guys!" Shane lifted his glass to the others, they did the same.

To celebrate their new-found freedom, Shane had invited the rest of the guys for a beer in a nearby pub. He felt like his body was filled with bubbles. Now he was allowed showing up with Nana, and pretty soon it would start to show that she was pregnant.

"SHANE!" Bryan knocked on Shane’s head with his fist. "Wake up buddy!" "Aouch, stop that you diphuit!" Shane bashed out at him. "Are you bringing Nana to London and Glasgow next weekend?" Mark asked.

They were to do some promotional work on their next album; interviews and TV appearances. Shane shrugged. "I’m not sure it’ll be anything for her." He looked at Nicky. "What about Georgina? Are you bringing her?" "If she wants to, yeah."

The rest of the day was long. At least that was what Shane felt. He and Nicky had spent some time window-shopping, looking at the Christmas decoration everywhere, chit-chatting about this and that. Along the line Nicky had confided in Shane that he and Georgina had been trying to start a family for the past 6 months, without any success. They knew it was a break of contract, but they had loved each other for so long and both felt such a strong urge to have a child, so they had actually planned to pretend it was an accident. But now it didn’t have to be any longer. They had all signed the new contract.
