until the end of time

chapter five

"It's been a week since I last saw them." Kellie said as she walked around, looking very nervous. "Where have they been?" "Relax! They probably just went back home for a while!" answered Anna sitting on the grass in the park. "And would you stop walking around? It makes me feel a bit dizzy." "I'm sorry...." Kellie apologised. She still looked tense and worried. The lads next door hadn't been home for a week now. Watching that movie with Mark was the last time she saw any of them. She was so afraid that they'd moved out and she'd never see her first love again. "I gotta go now Anna," said Kellie grabbing her bags. "All right, if you wanna talk, call me OK?" replied Anna as she stood up. "Thanx...bye." "Bye." Then Kellie walked away to the bus stop. She could feel the spring breeze and smell the fresh grass but it didn't cheer her up at all. Kellie felt so down. She kept on walking, face down.

When she crossed the road, she saw a lad with blonde hair standing near the bus stop. When Kellie approached him, she realized it was Bryan. It was a good sign to see him. Kellie felt so relieved and she walked over to him and patted him on the shoulder gentley. "Hi Bryan." said Kellie. "Hey Kellie. What's up? Going home huh?" asked Bryan, holding a McDonalds bag in his hand. "Yeah...how about you? What are you doing here? Where have you been last week anyway? Where are the other lads?..." "Hang on Kel!" Bryan interrupted Kellie before she could ask another question, "Slow down OK?" "I'm sorry Bry ... I'm just curious," apologised Kellie, looking downcast. "Oh....don't shoot me with that look...it's not your fault! Anyway, I'll answer your questions now. First, yes ... I'm going back home. Second, I'm here to buy McDonalds for our dinner." Bryan showed Kellie the McDonalds bag, "Third, last week we went to Sweden. Fourth, the others are at home. The plane just landed this morning ... anymore questions?" He smiled at her. "Nope, thanx though." smiled Kellie back.At least she knew that Mark was still there. "Oi that's the bus. Come on Kel." shouted Bryan.

They walked toward the bus and hopped on. They found seats so they sat down. "Heard that you fancy Mark huh?" asked Bryan. "Oh no," cried Kellie, looking away and sighing deeply. "I'm going to kill Nicky!" "Don't be so hard on him. He's trying to help you. He told us all except Mark, so we can put in a good word for you!" explained Bryan, trying to calm Kellie down. "But what if..." said Kellie in very weak voice. "Don't worry, things will be fine. I promise," replied Bryan, trying to comfort Kellie.

The next day when Kellie was about to feed her rabbit in the backyard, she heard someone shouting her name. She turned round and saw Mark waving to her. Kellie walked towards him. "Miss me, Kel?" asked Mark smiling. "Oh yeah...I missed you soooooooooooo much. Haven't seen your face for, oh about a week! It's killing meeeeee. Oh darlin..." Kellie burst out laughing and so did Mark. "I think you've already heard the story from Bry about where we went?!" said Mark still grinning. "Uh huh" nodded Kellie. "By the way, I bought this for you." Mark handed Kellie a wooden doll dressed in traditional Swedish dress. "Hope you like it." "Oh Mark, I love it...Thanx a lot." Kellie gave Mark a hug. "You didn't have to buy this for me." "I wanted to. I saw this doll and it instantly reminded me of you," explained Mark, "By the way, are you free tomorrow night?" "Yeah, why?" asked Kellie looking at the doll closely. "I've got 2 tickets to see a movie tomorrow, wanna come with me?" "I'd love to," replied Kellie immediately. "Uh, which movie is that anyway?" "'Message in the bottle'. Kevin Costner is in it... and you told me you like him so I just thought I should ask you to come with me," replied Mark. "And you already said yes!" "Yeah...uh, I have to go back and feed the rabbit now," Kellie said happily. "Oh, OK. Say HI to your parents for me, yeah? And see you at 6 tomorrow!" said Mark. "All right, see ya." Kellie waved to Mark then she rushed to into her house. She could still feel her heartbeat. 'Is this the reason why Bryan told me not to worry?' Kellie thought to herself but it didn't bother her much since she was going to see the movie with Mark tomorrow.

While Kellie was listening to radio, she heard something about a chance to win backstage passes for a Boyzone concert but she didn't catch exactly what it was. She decided to call the radio station for more information. "Hello, who is this?" a voice from the other side of the phone line said. "Kellie and..." "Kellie...You are our lucky winner to meet Westside backstage at the Boyzone concert in 3 months time...give her some applause will ya?" Kellie froze, she couldn't say a word. "So Kellie give us your phone number so we can contact you." "Uh...it's xxxx xxxxxx." "Thank you and we'll be in touch soon Kellie...BYE..." "Uh..bye" then she hung up. Kellie called Anna immediately. "Oh Kel, look on plus side, at least we get to go backstage!" said Anna, trying to comfort Kellie. "But...I'm sorry again Anna..." Kellie apologised. "I'd better go, it's getting late now." "Don't worry Kel...Bye!" "Bye." Kellie hung up the phone and walked to her room - exhausted.

She woke up on a beautiful Saturday morning and was extremely happy. She got dressed and went out for her part time job in a clothes shop. Around 5.15 pm, Kellie got home from work. She went straight to her room, took a shower and changed her clothes. Kellie picked out a blue, short sleeved top and a pair of jeans. She just wanted it to be casual as she didn't want Mark to think that she thought it was a date. Oh Kellie wished ... but she couldn't force herself to actually think that Mark liked her ... it was impossible. At 6.30 the doorbell rang. Kellie opened the door and found Mark dressed in a black, long sleeved pullover, a pair of jeans and black denim jacket. "You look great," smiled Mark. "Thanx," replied Kellie, feeling a bit shy. "You too." "Shall we go now?" "Oh yeah, let me grab my bag first." After Kellie got her bag, they took a taxi to cinema. Kellie and Mark kept talking about everything all through the night except when they watched the movie.

Afterwards, they went to have dinner at Pizza Hut and they both agreed that they'd walk home from the restaurant - since it's not too far from their house and they still had so many things to talk about. "What kind of music do you like, Kellie?" asked Mark. "Um...pop stuff. My fave band is Boyzone. They make me so proud to be Irish!" answered Kellie proudly. "How about you?" "Same! I like Michael Jackson too!" replied Mark smiling at Kellie. "You know, Anna won 2 front row tickets to see Boyzone in concert this summer and she's taking me with her. I just can't wait!" said Kellie excitedly. "Really? Cool!" replied Mark. "Are you feeling cold?" "Yeah but I'm OK," answered Kellie. "Take my jacket." Mark handed Kellie his jacket but she refused. "You'll be cold Mark." "I'll be all right. I'm wearing a pullover so take it!" insisted Mark. Kellie took the jacket from Mark and wore it. "Thanks Mark." said Kellie.

"Anyway, last night I called the radio station and guess what. I won backstage passes to meet a band called Westside who'll be the opening act for Boyzone before the concert starts. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet Boyzone too!" giggled Kellie. "Well I hope you have a great time!" smiled Mark. "Mark, why don't you have a girlfriend?" asked Kellie, looking at him for the answer. "I guess it's because of my job. I have to travel a lot and I just don't think it would be fair to my girlfriend if she had to wait months for me," replied Mark. "But what if someone is ready to wait and she won't complain no matter what happens, would you consider her to be your girlfriend?" asked Kellie, looking down at the ground. She couldn't let Mark see her eyes or he'd know she was talking about herself. "Still not fair!" said Mark, "What if I meet someone else? I don't want her heart to be broken by me if she is someone who loves me. And what if she meets someone who loves her more than me .... it's just not fair for her. There's someone who I love now...." That sentence hit Kellie right in the middle of her heart, Mark loved someone.

Kellie forced herself to smile and said "Good for you.". But soon after her words came out, her smile just faded away. Tears were fell from her eyes. "Are you OK Kellie?" asked Mark very worried. "Oh, sorry. I'm OK...I was just thinking about how romantic that movie was." Kellie knew it was such a lousy excuse but she couldn't think of anything else to say! "Look - we're home now...Thanx for everything Mark. I had a great time. Goodnight." said Kellie, trying very hard to smile to Mark. "I had a great time too. See you later. Good night," said Mark waving to Kellie. But all Kellie could do was smile at him and rush into her house. She ran straight to her bedroom, collapsed on her bed and cried. Her head was spinning with what Mark had said, she couldn't think of anything else. Kellie cried so hard but soon she fell asleep.
