until the end of time

chapter six

Kellie woke up, feeling terrible about what had happened the night before. She thought about what happened over and over again. 'I shouldn't act like that in front of Mark...' Kellie thought to herself while she was sitting in front of the mirror in her room. She realised that she needed to apologise to him, so after she took a shower and got dressed, she walked to the lads' house and rang their doorbell.

"Hi Kellie!" said Shane as he opened the door. "Who was that, Shane?" shouted a voice. "It was Kellie, Nicky." Shane shouted back. "Hi, I came to see Mark. Is he here?" asked Kellie, looking very sad. "Huh..nope, he went out at about 7.30," replied Shane, "wanna leave a message or something?" "No ... thanx," said Kellie miserably. She walked away, crying again.

"Kellie, wait up!" shouted a voice. When Kellie looked back, she saw it was Nicky who called her. Kellie stopped and waited for him to catch up. "What happened last night?" asked Nicky worried. Kellie turned to him "Oh Nicky..." then she burst into tears. Nicky took Kellie to a park near their house and let Kellie cry on him. When she calmed down, Nicky asked her again, "Tell me Kellie, what's wrong?" She told Nicky why she was upset. "Oh Kellie..." said Nicky, stroking her back. "Maybe it's not what you think. If you ask me or the lads, none of us know about that girl so maybe there isn't any girl. If you want Kellie, you can confront him about how you feel. Just calm down. Trust me, everything's gonna be all right." Kellie nodded her head. "Want to go home now?" asked Nicky and again Kellie nodded. When they approached their houses, they saw Mark sitting in Kellie's front yard. Kellie turned back to look at Nicky, who nodded his head and pushed her gently. Kellie walked straight to Mark. He stood up when Kellie approached him.

"I'm sorry about last night Mark. I was being such an idiot acting like that in front of you!" she said looking down to the ground. "I guess I acted like that 'coz I just like you so much. I think I envy that girl who you love. She's very lucky that you love her. I wish that girl was me but I guess I can't." Tears ran down Kellie's cheeks. "Don't cry, Kellie." Mark hugged Kellie intensely, "It's not your fault at all." Mark sighed, hugging Kellie who still cried so hard. "And I don't think you want to envy yourself Kel," said Mark. Kellie looked at him with a puzzled face. "What do you mean?" "Actually, it's my fault! Last night I didn't explain clearly what I said." explained Mark, "The girl I mentioned last night .... is actually you, Kellie." "What?" said Kellie very curiously. She didn't understand what Mark was saying! "Kellie, I love you," said Mark leaning closer to kiss her. They both hugged each other so tight, tears of sadness changing into tears of joy. "I love you too Mark!" Kellie whispered into his ear. She kissed him.

"Did you have breakfast yet?" asked Mark suddenly. Kellie shot Mark a strange look but eventually answered "No.". "Good, then we'll get something to eat in the city." "Right now?" "Yeah." "Let me tell my parents first." Kellie walked into the house, leaving Mark standing there alone. "All right...Way to go man!!!!!" shouted Bryan who teased him while the other lads laughed out loud. Mark just smiled. They'd been watching from the window! "What's that noise?" Kellie asked as she closed the door. "Don't worry about it. Let's go!" answered Mark, encircling Kellie's waist with his arm. When they walked off, Kellie looked back to Nicky and waved to him with a smile. Nicky waved back, feeling so relieved that they had sorted it out!

After they had their breakfast, Kellie went to the newsagents to buy a newspaper for her dad. She was about to pay when she saw the new issue of "Smash Hits" with the article about Westside so she decided to buy it as well. "Got everything?" asked Mark as he held Kellie's right hand. "Yeah," smiled Kellie. They walked back to the house. "Kellie, I have something to confess..." said Mark. Kellie turned to him and looked at him with a doubt. "Next month we won't be around the house much," said Mark. "Part of the job?" asked Kellie as she continued walking. "Yeah. We won't come back until October," said Mark looking sad. "That long?" Kellie was stunned. "I'm sorry...." apologised Mark. "Why do you have to apologise me anyway? Since we only have a month left, why don't we spend our time together as much as we can?" suggested Kellie. "I agree" smiled Mark, "Do you wanna watch TV at my house today?" "I'd love to!" grinned Kel. Both of them kept on walking, hand in hand under the slim sunshine of a Sunday morning in late-spring. Kellie had never found this side of her life before, the beautiful part .... of love.
