chapter seven
After Kellie had given her dad the newspaper she'd bought, she went to the lads' house and watched TV with Mark in the living room. "Oi, Mark. Louis called!" shouted Kian. "I'll get it." Mark shouted as he got up and ran to the phone in the kitchen. Kellie picked up "Smash Hits" and opened to the page about Westside. She was stunned to realise she was actually now sitting in Westside's house. "I'm back." said Mark, sitting next to Kellie on the couch. "What are you reading?" Kellie looked up from the magazine, she couldn't say a word. Mark looked at the page she had open, "Oh God...." He turned the other way. Neither of them said anything.
"So you are in Westside?" said Kellie, breaking the silence. "Yup,uh ... I'm sorry that I didn't tell you!" replied Mark. "Cool! My boyfriend is in a pop band supporting Boyzone in concert." Kellie spoke to herself "And my neighbours are the whole band of Westside." She was still amazed about those facts. "Kellie, what are you thinking now?" said Mark after he had left Kellie in silence. "Actually, I was thinking that those backstage passes I won are actually no use. I mean, why do I need it to meet my own boyfriend and my neighbours who are actually my friends?" said Kellie jokingly. "But those backstage passes can lead you to meet Ronan Keating!" grinned Mark. "Why?" asked Kellie. "Don't you know? Ronan is our manager." Kellie was about to faint. "Ronan? Ronan Keating? From Boyzone? Your manager? Oh my God!!!!!!" screamed Kellie. "Oi, Kellie! Calm down." Mark said, trying to settle her! It seemed like nothing could. "Oh Mark please, I wanna meet him, please help me and Anna!" begged Kellie. "I'll try my best OK?" replied Mark. "Thank you!" Kellie hugged Mark and kissed him, "You are the best boyfriend ever, wait, you are my first!" laughed Kellie and so did Mark.
Time passed by so quick, it's going to be summer soon. Both Kellie and Mark were busy, though they still had some time to spend together like going to movies, having dinner or even going to the studio with other lads. Finally the day had arrived ... Kellie and Mark only had had a day left before Mark and the lads went on tour with Boyzone. Kellie, her parents and Anna decided to arrange a farewell party for the lads at Kellie's house, inviting the lads' friends and families. The party went on so well, no-one mentioned anything about 'tomorrow'. All they wanted was just to have a great time with people they cared about.
Kellie took a break from chatting in the living room and walked into the kitchen. She was thirsty so she grabbed a glass and poured some orange juice from the fridge into it. While Kellie was drinking, she thought about her life after this night, her life after the lads left, her life without Mark. Tears dripped from her eyes as she knew her life wouldn't be the same. "Kel, lets' go out..." paused Mark when he saw Kellie's tears. He rushed over and hugged her. "Don't cry..." said Mark, trying to comfort Kellie. "I'm all right Mark. It's just that I don't want this night to end." Kellie wiped out her tears, "I wish I could make this night last forever." "But we couldn't," said Mark, smoothing Kellie's hair. "I want you to be here with me tonight, Mark. Can you?" asked Kellie, with a trembling voice. "I'll be with you forever, Kel." Mark kissed Kellie on her forehead.
The party was over around midnight as the lads would leave early in the morning. Everybody went home, leaving Kellie and Mark alone on the couch in the living room. Mark cuddled Kellie in silence and soon both of them fell asleep. In the morning Kellie's mum woke them up, "Get up, Kel ... Mark, you'll be late for the flight!" she said shaking both of them. Kellie opened her eyes, "You know what, I just had a really beautiful dream," said Kellie to Mark. "Both of us were in this beautiful park with so many types of flowers. You told me you love me and we kissed..." "I love you Kellie.." Mark kissed Kellie's forehead. "I'd better go ... I need to prepare myself," said Mark as he got up and bent on his knee. "Promise me that you won't cry when we leave." paused Mark, "I don't want to see you cry.". "I'll try..." said Kellie. Mark kissed Kellie on her cheek then walked out of the house. Kellie tried not to cry, she ran upstairs and took a shower. As she was sitting near the window, looking at the lads' house. It brought back some of the old memories of when she first met her Mark, when she first felt hurt and when she first understood what love was like.
Not long later she heard the doorbell, Kellie rushed downstairs and opened the door. It was Anna. "Hi Anna." said Kellie quietly, letting Anna in and walking into the kitchen. Anna followed her. Kellie's mum and dad were having breakfast so Anna joined them. Kellie wasn't hungry so she only drank some tea. The doorbell rang, Kellie ran to open it. This time, it was the lads, coming to say goodbye. They walked towards the kitchen. While everyone was saying goodbye in the kitchen, Mark and Kellie were in the living room. "I'll call you as often as I can." promised Mark, holding Kellie in his arms. "I'll wait for your call every night. I'll count the days 'til I meet you at the concert." Her tears were welling up but Kellie was still smiling. She tried to wipe out her tears but the more she did, she could feel that she was crying harder. When the lads had finished saying goodbye, they walked out of the house. Kellie followed the lads while Mark was saying goodbye to her parents and Anna. "Don't be sad ... we'll be back soon." said Nicky, patting Kellie's back. "We'll keep an eye on him so don't worry. If he cheats on you, we'll call you as soon as we can!" said Kian jokingly. Kellie grinned. Kian was always making jokes! "Oi, it's time now!" shouted the driver. The lads hugged Kellie one by one, Mark was last. He walked toward her and whispered to Kellie, "...I'm never gonna say goodbye 'coz I never wanna see you cry. I swore to you my love would remain and I swear it all over again..." "I love you!" said Kellie, hugging Mark tightly and kissing him. Kellie let him go slowly. She watched him walk to the van and climb into it. The lads waved to her, her parents and Anna as they stood in front of the door. Kellie waved back. She watched the van drive away, leaving her in tears and dreaming about the day that she'd see them again.
Two months passed away so fast. Mark called her once in a while but he could only talk for short time since the lads had to appear on radio and TV stations to promote themselves. Kellie had been on vacation with her family to Tenerife in Spain for 2 weeks and spent most of her time with Anna or chatting on the internet with people who had been to Boyzone concerts. At last, the day that she had been waiting for arrived. Kellie prepared herself all day, picking the clothes to wear. She packed the stuff that she bought for Mark and the lads in Tenerife into her bag. "Kellie...Anna is here!" shouted her mum from downstairs. "Tell her to come to my room, mum." Kellie shouted back, still packing her bag. "Woah ... are u moving the house or what?" said Anna as she entered the room. "Sorry...a bit messy. Which one should I wear Anna, this pink vest with these jeans or this blue dress?" Kellie held pink vest in her right hand and blue dress in her left hand, looking at Anna for suggestions. "I prefer the pink vest one. More casual and you look great in jeans." suggested Anna. "Alright, thanx!" replied Kellie. "I'll go and changed now. Be right back." then she walked to bathroom. About 5 minutes later, she returned to her room. "What time should we be there?" asked Kellie, walking to the dressing table. "Ummm...the concert starts about 7.00 p.m. so we should be there around 5 pm I think," replied Anna reading the magazine on Kellie's bed. "Plenty of time!" said Kellie, starting to put on some make up. "So what will you do when you meet Mark?" asked Anna. "I don't know..." sighed Kellie. "Probably hug him and tell him how much I miss him." Kellie kept on doing her make up while Anna read some magazines. "Done!" shouted Kellie. "How do I look?" she turned to Anna who still sitting on her bed. "Oh Kel...you look so beautiful!" answered Anna in amazement. "Hey...it's 4.30 now. We'd better go..." Kellie picked up her stuff and walked downstairs with Anna following her. "How can we get there anyway? Taxi?" asked Anna. "Actually my dad will drive us there," replied Kellie. "So are you ready girls?" asked her dad. "YES SIR!!!!" giggled the girls. "Oh wait up..." shouted Kellie's mum. "Tell the boys that I'm waiting for them to come back and have dinner at our house soon." "I will mum!" said Kellie with a smile.
All the way to arena, the girls sang Boyzone songs from the "Where we belong" album. When they arrived at the arena, the girls walked to the back of arena to meet people from the radio station. They had been brought to wait at the backstage area. "Anna ... I'm so nervous!" said Kellie, almost shaking! "Kel, you are gonna see someone you love. Just calm down - everything will be fine," said Anna, looking around. "Oi, that's Shane, SHANE!!!!!!" Shane turned to them and when he noticed that it was Anna and Kellie, he waved at them. The girls waved back then Shane walked away. "OK girls...you've got half an hour to chat with the boys," said a young lady, "Bring the boys down!" she said to radio communication.
About 5 minutes later the girls noticed a guy with short blonde hair walking in the front, followed by other 4 lads. "I'm so excited Anna..." whispered Kellie. "Oi Kellie and Anna!!!!" shouted Nicky while he and the lads walked towards them. "Hi guys!!!" said Anna and Kellie. After Kellie and Anna had hugged the lads, they chatted about what was going on with their lives. "Me and my parents went on holiday to Tenerife so we bought this for you guys," said Kellie grabbing her presents and handing them to the lads. "And this is for you, Mark." "What is it?" He asked. "Just open it!" replied Kellie. Mark unwrapped his present and he found a photo frame with photos of him and Kellie. "I saw this photo frame and it reminded me of you so I just thought I should buy it for you!" explained Kellie. Mark looked at her then he leaned closer and kissed Kellie. "Thanx. I really miss you!" He said looking into her eyes. "I really miss you too," said Kellie, encircling Mark's waist. "When will you come back to Ireland again?" "I really don't know Kellie. Probably after this tour which is like in November!" answered Mark, holding Kellie in his arms and playing with her hair. "So tell me about your trip to Tenerife." Then Kellie told him about her trip. They laughed together ... Kellie felt so relieved and happy to see person she loved again. "You've got 5 minutes left," said the same young lady. "So I guess we have to say goodbye!" said Anna. "I really miss you guys a lot!" said Kellie with tears welling up but still smiling. "By the way, my mum said she is waiting for you to come back and have dinner at our house soon." "Tell her, we'll be there for sure!" said Kian. "We'll miss you girls a lot." Kian hugged each of them. Kellie felt her tears falling, she tried to wipe them away but she couldn't stop them. While the lads hugged the girls, they had to calm Kellie down. Mark grabbed her in his arms and cuddled her gently. "Don't cry, Kel. I know how you feel. Leaving you again is tearing me apart too!" said Mark, smoothing Kellie's hair. "We'll meet again soon. I'll call you, I promise." "But..." sobbed Kellie "Kellie, I know it's difficult for you to cope with this, but can you promise me one thing?" "Yeah.." answered Kellie, still sobbing. "I want you to enjoy the concert tonight. Just having a great time. Don't let the thought that it'll be a long time 'til we see each other bother you." said Mark. "I'll try my best..." Kellie took a deep breathe and smiled. Mark kissed Kellie on her forehead.
"Like I promised to you, Kel. I want you to meet my manager." Kellie turned round and saw Ronan Keating standing near her. "So this is your biggest fan, huh Mark?" grinned Ronan. "Mark..." Kellie turned to Mark and kissed him "Thank you so much." Kellie and Anna had a little chat with Ronan and took photos with him and with the lads as well. "We'll look after them so don't worry OK?" said Ronan, "Hope that you'll enjoy the show tonight." "We will!" shouted the girls excitedly. "Oh well, it's time to go now...Nice meeting you girls!" said Ronan, walking away in the dark. "I love you Kellie," whispered Mark. "I love you too!" Kellie kissed Mark for the last time. Then she and Anna walked out. Kellie looked back while they were walking. She saw Mark standing there alone, watching her walk away. "Listen to the song we sing carefully. It's what I feel!!!" shouted Mark. "See you on the stage!" shouted Kellie back. Mark waved to her until she couldn't see him anymore.
The girls got inside the arena, sitting and waiting patiently - well as patiently as they could! When it was time, Kellie saw 5 lads in black suits, standing on the stage. It was Westside. They sang a song called "Swear It Again." Kellie and Anna waved to the lads all the time and they all recognised them. When they sang the chorus verse, she saw Mark standing in front of her and waving to her while he was singing. Kellie was about to cry but this time with the tears of joy! The joy to see the one she loved successful and see him on stage expressing his feelings for her. Kellie promised herself that she would never forgot that night and she never did.
