We're worlds apart

chapter five

"Hi Sara, how are ya?"
"Do you really need to ask, and you just haven't made it any easier on me. If you were a mate you wouldn't have asked me to go talk to Shane. You should have understood"
"But.." Angel tried unsuccessfully to convince Sara that she had done no wrong. "But nothing, I just don't want to know,"
"But..." Angel tried again. Angel had hoped that in the time between the incident and now, Sara would have calmed down and become open to suggestions. "I don't want to know" Sara persisted on not knowing anything that Shane had wanted to say to her. "Please just listen to me, I understand that you don't want to talk to Shane but this is me, your friend so stop being so stubborn and just listen" Angel began to lose her cool. "How could you..."

"Just listen don't argue. Shane is really sorry for laughing at you, he says that there is no excuse for what he did, he doesn't even know why he did it"
"Stop, I don't care" Sara protested. "But he does and you know that if you admitted it to yourself, you do too. He gave me his number and said that you can phone him any time."
"Ohhhhhhhhh that's nice of him", Sara shot back sarcastically. "Well I sort of thought you'd have that reaction so I erm..."
"You what?" Sara asked but was only met by silence "Angel answer me, you sort of what?"
"Erm I sort of gave him your number but..." Before Angel could justify her action the phone had been slammed down and she could only hear the dial tone.

Sara screamed out of frustration and anger and a few seconds her father came in with a baseball bat, "What? Where? Who? I'll kill 'em! What?". Sara laughed at her dad who looked tired but so dedicated to whacking whoever or whatever it was that had hurt his daughter. "Dad calm down, and slowly give me the bat..." Her dad laughed at her and gave her the bat. The look of relief spread across his face. "There is no one here, look, unless you wanna whack Mr Teddy but honestly it was only a innocent hug, no more" Sara said still smiling. "Ha ha very funny, so what's up this time? I know you broke a nail, no let me guess you found a split end!" Sara's dad said with a laugh, "Ha ha look who's the comedian now" Sara's dad takes a bow "Yeah funny! Really it doesn't matter!" No matter what Sara said her dad would not leave her until she gave him a satisfactory answer. Sara knew something that would get her dad out her room "Dad's it women's problems, I have my per..." Before Sara could finish the sentence her dad had shot out of the room closing the door firmly behind him. Sara laughed and gave her teddy bear a hug. She buried her head into its soft fur.

"Bring bring" The phone rang. Sara jumped in shock. "Please don't be him, please don't be him" Sara repeated until the phone stopped ringing. "Yes thank God for that", Sara signed with relief but something deep down wished that she had answered the phone. Deep down she wanted to talk to Shane, she wanted Shane. "Sara" Her dad called to her, "Some guy is on the phone, you wanna pick up?"
"Shit" Sara's head filled with so many questions that she couldn't think straight. "Yeah dad I'll pick up". Sara reached for the phone, which was already next to her after her conversation with Angel. Did she really want to answer the phone? "Hello?"
