chapter one
"So what did you think about my performance today in IOU, Angie?" Kian asked me with a wide smile on his face. I hugged him and replied, "I think you were the best! I really loved that song that you guys did. Shane and Mark sang really well too... not like their usual playful selves." Kian chuckled. "So are you going to stay at my apartment today?" I asked. Kian nodded with a smile on his face. "Great, Mom's gonna pick us up at the park in about 15 minutes time," I continued as we walked to the park, laughing and joking.
Kian and I had been best friends since the first time we met which was about 3 years ago. He was a friendly and caring guy... sometimes even made me do stuff that the timid me would never dared to do. Every weekend, we would spend time at each other's houses. It was so frequent that Kian did not need to clean his room anymore before I moved in. We knew each other very well and nothing could break us apart.
The next morning, Mark and Shane invited Kian and I to have breakfast. When we arrived, I noticed that Mark and Shane looked different today. "Hey Mark. Hi Shane," I said as Kian pulled out the chair for me. Shane smiled and replied, "Hey Angie. Glad you've came. We have good news to share!" My eyes twinkled as I asked excitedly, "What news, Shane? What?" The three guys laughed. Feeling embarrassed, I playfully hit Shane on the arm. "Hey! That hurts!" Shane joked but soon came back to serious business. "Guess what, Kian? We are going to be in a boyband, just like the Backstreet Boys!" cried Shane, who simply adores the Backstreet Boys like crazy. Kian flashed his smile and was as excited as them. Mark nodded in agreement while I was stunned by the news.
"Ronan Keating from Boyzone spotted us last night during our opening for BSB and asked us if we wanted to get together to make music professionally and travel around the world. They would audition 2 other members in Dublin to make up our new band called Westlife! Aren't you happy Kian?" Mark said as he leaned forward towards Kian. He forced a smile but through his eyes, I knew what he was thinking.
