chapter four We were all back at their place and we all ended up slumped on the couch. We were exhausted. "Anyone for a drink?" Mark asked. A round of "Yes's" followed. "I'll give you a hand," I said standing up and following Mark to the kitchen. "Umm..." Mark started as we entered the kitchen. I sensed he wanted to talk to me. I just wanted it to be about the same thing I did. "What's up Mark" She pushed. Mark came over to her and looked down at the ground. "I really want to talk things through and get things right between us." Looking up into my eyes. "Mark they were never wrong between us" I add, taking his hand, entwining my fingers in his and looking honestly into his eyes. "But we just need to sort out how we feel and what we each want." Mark replied. "I know." I said softly, noticing his warm and soft hands. "After we give these to the guys do you want to go out, get some dinner and go somewhere and talk?" "Sure that's fine." I said. We made the drinks and I headed for the guys. My heart was hoping that it was going to be worth it? I handed them all round. "Thanks, your a gem." replied Shane. The others managed a smile. "Well Kel and I are off, I hope you guys don't get up to too much trouble while we are gone!" Mark says coming over to me and putting his hand on my back. "More to the point I hope you two don't get up to too much trouble while your gone!" Kian says grinning at us and nudging Bryan in the side. "MMMMM!" Bryan added looking devilishly at us. "Just let the two of them be" Nicky added. "They'll do what they want, without you lot interfering." I looked at him and smiled. He smiled back. I knew that I could trust Nicky. He seemed so together, and he always knew what to say and when. I knew I had found a true friend in Nicky. Mark and I left and headed out for dinner. Dinner was great and conversation flowed well. We both avoided the topic of "US" and spent most of the night reminiscing. *** back with the guys *** The guys all sat around relaxing and chatting after Mark and Kelly had left. "Well what a day" Kian said out loud. "Tell me about it" Nicky said "I wonder how Mark and Kelly’s night's going?" Shane asked. "You and her seemed to hit it off pretty well then today?" "Well yes but not in that way!" Nicky defended himself. "I could tell she needed someone to talk to, that’s all." "So what’s the deal with Mark and her then?" Bryan added. "Well hopefully she will tell him that she still loves him and she wants to get back together." Nicky expanded. "But she just doesn’t know what Mark wants or feels so she may hold back." He finished. "Wow, that’s going to be interesting then" Kian said. "Why, what do you mean?" Nicky asked a little confused. "Its just that Mark said the same thing to us today. " Shane said. "He was also unsure about what she wanted." "Oh god" Nicky sighed. "Neither of them know how the other feels, they are probably going to end up enemies rather than back together" Bryan added. "We don’t know where they are to tell them either" Nicky said worriedly. "Well all we can do is hope that they both are brave enough to say what they want." Shane said. Nicky started to worry. He needed to talk to Mark soon. Before it was all too late. *** back with Mark *** We decided to head along to a park that overlooked the water. It was a really romantic spot with the stars, moon and surroundings created an amazing atmosphere. We were both really nervous. We sat down and looked at each other. "Well..." Mark started. I looked at him. I could see he was nervous he always played with his ring when something was on his mind. "Where to start huh" I added jokingly. "Yeah" Mark added laughing lightly. "It's just that..." I started. Mark suddenly spoke up, he was always so shy and let everyone speak their minds and then put his opinion across. "No, I am sorry, but I need to get this out or I never will." Mark paused. This was the moment he was dreaded. He had decided he was going to tell he that he wanted to stay friends. He hoped if she was thinking differently that she would tell him. He didn't want to lose her. He knew that much. "I’m really glad we met again the other day. I was really glad that we have been able to spend this time together." I looked directly in his eyes, to see if I could read what was coming next. I couldn’t I noticed that they lacked the sparkle that he always had, there was sadness instead. I began to hope that our moment at the beach earlier was going to make things easier. But I was soon wrong. Mark continued. "It's been great being together, but I feel that we are lacking that something to just start up our relationship from where it finished. We still have a great friendship, it's just… " He trailed off. My heart just dropped and broke into a million pieces. I was devastated. For all what I was hoping for was gone. I stood up and walk a few steps. Mark looked over at her as she walked away. He thought to himself that she might as well just walk out of his life for good after what just happened. It was the wrong thing to say, but he couldn’t take it back now. It was all too late. "What are you thinking about?" Mark asked. "I don’t really know." I replied holding back the tears and not looking Mark in the eyes. "Can we even be friends now?" I question him. "Why not, what do you mean?" Mark asked hurried She knew that she had to get away from Mark. Things were not meant to be like this. "Mark, I would love more than anything to keep our friendship this strong" I said. "I’m glad" Mark said coming over to her. He took her hand, she held it wanting to let go and run and hide. "I never want to lose you, ever." Mark said looking deep in her eyes. She tried to hold back the tears, but they escaped her. A tear ran down here check. Mark wiped it away. They just stood there in silence, both wanting to say more than what had been said. "I need to go. " She said quietly breaking the silence. "Okay… I’ll walk with you if you want" Mark said "No, its okay I’ll be fine. I just need to be on my own." I said wanting to go. "Okay" Mark said so unsure of what had happened. "Bye" I said walking off. I did look back, I wanted to it was just too hard. I just walked I didn’t even know where I was going I just had to go somewhere and think things through. Mark looked at her as she walked off. He knew he had done the wrong thing. He regretted it more than ever. But how could he tell her how he really felt. He sat down and put his head in his hands. Soon he felt a tear run down his check. He let the tears flow. He didn't care how he looked. He was heart broken and he had just broken his soul mates heart. |
