Chapter 1 “I don’t think we should see each other any longer!” Duncan yelled. “Why? What have I done?” Becki looked at Duncan with tears in her eyes.” “It’s not you, it’s me!” “You’re seeing someone else aren’t you, that’s why you want to break up with me!” “How dare you ever suspect me of that!” Duncan got mad and before Becki knew it she felt a burning sensation across he cheek. “Get out! Get out of my house” Becki screamed as she sat in a huddle in the corner sobbing. “Just leave me alone!” “Fine, I’ll be glad to!” Duncan stormed out the room and the front door slammed! ‘Thank God he’s gone!’ Becki thought. Becki and Duncan had been a couple, but ever since he’d been disappearing at weird times of the night, Becki had suspected him of two-timing & that’s when he got violent on her. She would get scared to tell him to go, most of the time she’d be scared of him and now he was gone…good riddance! Becki quickly dialled the number of her best friend sobbing. “Rach, he’s left!” Becki cried down the phone. “What…Duncan? Oh Becks, it’s ok!” Rach didn’t know how violent Duncan really was. “He’s been seeing someone else, but I’m scared!” “What are you scared of?” “That Duncan will come back!” “Look! I’m coming over right now, don’t move!” Rach told Becki, she only lived five minutes down the road from Becki. Becki looked out the window hoping to see Rachel. But there was no sign of her, all she was a removal van outside next door. Removal Van? Next Door? Becki was amazed. No one had lived in that house for well over a year. Her tears had turned into nosiness as she hoped to get a view of the new neighbours. Suddenly someone knocked on the door; she opened it to see Rachel. “Oh My God Becks! What the hell has happened to your cheek?” Rach looked shocked as Becki looked in to the mirror to find a big red mark where Duncan had slapped her. Her beauty usually shone out; she has long copper red hair, blue eyes, and a smile that guys used to fall for but today she couldn’t smile, her hair and eyes looked dull and the red mark did nothing for her. Becki broke down into sobs again. “Come on Becks” Rach hugged her “We’re going to sit in the lounge and you’re going to tell me how you got that mark on you’re cheek.” They sat down. “Duncan…you don’t know what he’s done to me.” “Well it seems like he’s been two-timing and left you!” Rach told her. “No, apart from that…he’s been beating me!” Becki sobbed again at the thought of her ex beating her. “Oh God No! He wouldn’t!” Rach couldn’t believe it. “Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you leave him?” “I was so scared! If I moved when he was about I thought he was going to hit me.” Becki shook with fear. Suddenly the door knocked again. “Oh God, if that’s him!” Becki looked scared. “I’ll go and get it!” Rach said getting up, Becki got up as well to peer at the front door. As Rach opened it, her smile got bigger and bigger, there were five good-looking guys on Becki’s doorstep. “Hi, we’re your new neighbour, thought we’d just come round and introduce ourselves.” the small dark haired guy said. “Ah well, I’m not your new neighbour!” Rach told them. “Ok, so where are they?” the tall blonde guy asked, “We’ve bought them some biscuits.” Rach looked over at Becki peering round the corner looking terrible; she couldn’t let the guys see her like that! “Well, I’m the new neighbours best mate! She would come and say hello but she’s feeling a little bit under the weather!” Rach told them. “Ah, well tell her Kian, Nicky, Bryan, Shane, and Mark called round to say hi but we’ll come back tomorrow.” The tallest dark haired guy told Rach. “And I’m trusting you to give her these biscuits” the tall blonde haired guy said passing the tin of biscuits to Rach. “Yeah ofcourse, I’ll pass on the message and the biccies.” “Oh, tell her to get well soon too” said one of the other blonde haired guys. “Will do” Rach smiled “Bye” and she shut the door. Becki appeared after her peering round the lounge door. “I think I’m going to like it here from now on” she smiled. “And I think I’m gonna move in here with neighbours like that!” They both chuckled and tucked into the tin of biscuits. |
