Irish stars such The Cranberries and Westlife rocked in the Vatican
over the weekend as they put on a show privately for the Pope. The stars
went to ROME, ITALY to perform in front of the Pope in a show that was
broadcasted all around the world on Christmas Eve. Westlife sang their
hit World Of Our Own, before they joined the Cranberries' Dolores on
stage for a duet of the Little Drummer Boy.
Meanwhile in Dublin Ronan Keating hosted a Christmas party in his new 2
million pound house. The house which is located in Malahide, on the
outskirts of Dublin, played host to over one hundred guests on Saturday
night.

Among the VIP's invited to the Vatican were the Irish prime Minister
Bertie Ahern and his girlfriend Celia Larkin, Patrick Kielty and his
girlfriend Amanda Byram, and the racecar driver Damon Hill.

Mariah Carey and Westlife are said to be planning another duet, both
on stage and in the studio. Following their cover of Phil
Collins' 'Against All Odds', the super powers will perform Mariah's
track 'Never Too Far' at the first Top Of The Pops Awards this
Friday, November 30.

It is alleged that Mariah and the boyband will then head to a
Manchester studio and decide a song to record together on the spot.
The diva was said to be very touched by the amount of support offered
by the Irish lads during her recent breakdown, and so asked them if
they would like to record with her again.

"Mariah asked the lads and they wanted to show their support as they
know she's had a hard time lately," said Louis Walsh, Westlife's
manager. "There was real chemistry when they worked on 'Against All
Odds'. We want to record with her again because it would be a great
way to bolster her profile in the UK and introduce Westlife to the
Americans."

Meanwhile, back to the Top Of The Pops Awards, which will include
performances by Kylie Minogue, J-Lo, Travis, Atomic Kitten, Wheatus
and Hear'Say, as well as Mariah and Westlife. There will also be duet
action between Wyclef Jean and the daddy of all crooners, Tom Jones.
Careful you don't get any flying knickers caught in your
dreads, 'Clef!

Westlife re-entered the charts at no1 last night with Queen of my Heart
- but Nicky Bryne shocked fans when he revealed he has set his
heart on acting. The star - how shaved his head during the video for
the latest no 1 - exclusively said he ahs already signed up for a serious
movie acting role. Shooting for the film will start whenever Westlife
end - which we hope won't be soon.
Nicky will play the lead in a film version of The Silver Tassie - based
on an anti-war play by famous Irish writer Sean O' Casey, set
during WW1 1914-1918.In short it is based on a man called Harry Heegan,
who during the war leads his team to victory to win the Tassie - a
football trophy - and becomes a local hero. But when he gets called back to
the trenchs he gets his 'legs blown off'. He returns home and has to
cope with being in a wheelchair despite being a soccer legend.

Rest of group to sing at Bryan and Kerry's wedding

This weekend sees a poptastic wedding ceremony at Slane Castle in Ireland as Westlife's Bryan weds his sweetheart and former Atomic Kitten, Kerry Katona. And not only will the lucky guests at the wedding be able to share in the couple's special day, but they'll also be treated to a private performance by the groom's Westlife pals.

Apparently, Bryan has arranged for Kian, Shane, Mark and Nicky to sing as he walks down the aisle with his new wife - providing guests with a performance that money couldn't buy!

Shane has revealed that Kerry wants the boys to sing 'Moments', but don't expect to see any snaps of the occasion. That is, unless you buy a copy of 'Hello!' magazine - the couple have sold exclusive rights to the mag and there will extra security to make sure no one smuggles in a camera!

Being a popstar may sound like a glamorous job but poor Westlife have
just had a hectic time in Europe. They flew into Sweden at the start
of the week for some European promotion but, unfortunately, their
luggage didn't! Still, rather than sit in their hotel room and sulk,
Shane, Nicky, Bryan, Mark and Kian went out to party in true
Stockholm style at a bash being thrown by the lovely Jennifer Lopez.
Luckily, while they were out dancing, the five missing bags were
found and they carried on to Gothenburg in Germany. But again, it
wasn't all plain sailing, because two days later they lost all their
stage gear on the way to Barcelona. That meant the lads couldn't wear
their sexy smart Dolce and Gabanna suits and had to go for a more
casual vibe instead! Finally, after another stop to meet their fans
in Madrid, the guys made it back in time for a relaxing Sunday in
Ireland - with all the right clothes.

WESTLIFE have blasted their squeaky clean image into smithereens with
the revelation that they sleep with groupies and watch porn. The
Irish balladeers' KIAN EGAN loves to bed fans, and thinks it's no-one
else's business but his own. He says, "I am a normal 21-year-old. I
go out from time to time, have some drinks and if I meet a pretty
girl fan then what happens is between me and her. And it's nobody
else's business." Bandmate SHANE FILAN says, "I haven't had sex with
our fans for a long time - I've got a girlfriend now." New dad BRYAN
MCFADDEN, who lives with former ATOMIC KITTEN babe KERRY KATONA,
says, "There are a lot of people who think that we must
be 'responsible' but we live the way we want. "Our music is one thing
and what we do in our private life is another." A pal of the band
adds, "There have been many late night parties and Westlife have
slept with some of their fans. Westlife don't even try to hide
it. "As members of one of the world's most popular boy bands, they
seize the opportunities whenever they arise." Bryan also admits he
loves to watch Swedish porn when he visits the Scandinavian Countryt

The public opening of the Westlife Platinum site was timed to
coincide with the release of the band's latest album, World Of Our
Own. As well as music tracks, videos, interviews and back-stage
footage, the site will also give fans the opportunity to book tickets
early and to get ringtones and icons for their mobile phones. BMG set
up the net-based commerce system to support the pre-paid cards with
the help of the newly formed Electronic Transaction Corporation. The
giant BMG group is not the first to use the pre-paid cards to support
web-based campaigns. news International has used pre-paid cards as
one of hte payment options for the Sun Newspaper's Dream Team fantasy
football competition.

Wedding goss from Bryan and Kerry's big day

Bryan and Kerry finally tied the knot over the weekend, and our Westlife insiders say the wedding was magical. Kerry walked down the aisle in a �10,000 wedding dress, standing side by side with a very happy Bryan. There was a whole host of celebs attending their big day at Slane Castle, Ireland, including Kerry's ex-bandmates in Atomic Kitten and Dane Bowers who serenaded the two. But the biggest surprise came from the priest, who couldn't remember Kerry's name when he read their vowels, calling her Kelly by mistake! But the happy couple weren't put off at all, even little baby Molly was well behaved. She apparently was gurgling and smiling throughout the whole ceremony...ahhhhhh!

The new year has only just begun, but the Wedding of the Year may already have taken place - last Saturday's marriage of Westlife pin-up Bryan McFadden to pop star and TV presenter Kerry Katona.

The bride's brief to the wedding experts who helped create her big day was to "think fairy tale." And fairy tale it most certainly was - a magical, intimate celebration in the tiny Church of the Immaculate Conception in Rathfeigh, County Meath, followed by the party to end all parties (this is Ireland, after all) at historic Slane Castle, which is famous for its music-world links.

"I used to come to pop concerts in the grounds of Slane and look up at the castle," reveals Bryan, "but I never, ever imagined in a million years that I'd be getting married here."

WESTLIFE dress like gangsters ready for another raid on the charts �
hoping to notch up a TENTH No1.
The exclusive snaps show the lads looking like characters from the
movie Reservoir Dogs in the video for new single World Of Our Own.
In the promo they race around in a macho Hummer Jeep chased by cops.
They even hired some Dobermans to complete the image � though that might
have been risky, since they were all dressed like a dog�s dinner!!
BRYAN McFADDEN, who married KERRY KATONA a couple of days after the
shoot, told me: �It was good fun. We looked great in the suits and loved
our bad-boy look.�
But the boys had better be ready for a fight when they release the
track on February 18.
They will be up against KYLIE MINOGUE and her single In Your Eyes. And
she really dresses to kill.

Bryan Loses �400k Over House Sale

Newly-weds Bryan McFadden and Kerry Katona looked blissed out on the first stint of their honeymoon in South Africa's Sun City.
But there is just one thing marring their romantic holiday - apart from their naff outfits.
The Westlife heartthrob has just learned he's about to lose �400,000 on the sale of his house. Bry and Kerry, both 21, paid �1.2million for the three storey, five-bedroom property (inset) in Co. Wicklow last summer. But Kerry hated being so isolated, so they put the house up for sale and forked out �2 million on two penthouses in Dublin, which they are knocking together into one big pad.
"We put the place on the market but property prices have slumped since September 11," moans Bryan. "We've been told that we could lose about �400,000 - which is a lot of money no matter how much you have got."

Westlife, Blue and Pink join line-up of first MTV Asia Awards

Westlife, Pink and P.O.D. have been added to the line-up of the first ever MTV Asia Awards.

Blue and Cirque Du Soleil are also among the artists taking part.

The awards ceremony takes place in the Singapore Indoor Stadium on February 2.

It will be hosted by Ronan Keating and Mandy Moore.

Also among the line-up for the night are Favourite Artist - Philippines nominee Regine Velasquez, Shaan from India, Korean group God, Padi from Indonesia, M Nasir from Malaysia, Chinese singer Na Ying and Hong Kong star Sammi Cheng.

More artists will be announced in the days leading up to the show, MTV Asia reports.

The show will be aired later the same day on all of MTV Asia's channels, and is also scheduled to air on various MTV global channels.

MTV Networks Asia's vice-president Mishal Varma said: "This will be the first time Asian fans get a chance to see artists from so many different countries performing on stage at one single event.

"Expect a fusion of different cultures and music, and an all-in-all mind-blowing experience."

Hello! magazine may have had the exclusive photo rights to Bryan & Kerry's but we can exclusively tell you where the couple are now and how much it is costing them.

Let us start by saying that it is lucky the couple got �250,000 from Hello! for the photo rights of the wedding (organized by Joanne Byrne - Mari O'Leary's right hand woman). Their two-week honeymoon Hotel is a favourite of Prince William and not cheap.

The couple flew out of Dublin to London on Monday last, they then flew on to Sun City in South Africa.

After a few days in The Palace of the Lost City resort in Sun City they jetted first class down to the tiny island of Mauritius where they are staying until the end of this week in one of the island's top hotels.

We won't tell you the name as even we feel they need some peace.

The price for seven days full board is nearly �5,000 Irish for the Mauritius hideaway with the first class flights and the top suite in the hotel.

Oh, by the way that is �5,000 a week... each!!

On top of the �10,000 cost of the hotel in Mauritius they paid �2,000 each for their stay in the South African resort .

The final cost of the honeymoon was close to �20,000 we are told and with over �100,000 going on the wedding the couple must be one of the only Hello! couples to have spent over half their payment by the time the magazine hit the shelves.

The Wedding was organized by Ireland's top wedding planner Tara Fay.

In its time Slane Castle, which is an hour's drive from Dublin, has hosted its share of music business shindigs, concerts for U2, the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen among them. But rarely have guests kicked off their shoes and enjoyed themselves as the 250 friends and family did at the McFaddens' celebrations.
The castle itself had been transformed into a winter wonderland by Irish society florist James Bailie. As a barbershop quartet sang a cappella in the background, the newlyweds � unable to stop smiling � greeted their guests in front of a giant Christmas tree.
A kir royale reception kicked off the party, and it came to choosing what their guests would eat, Kerry and Bryan were adamant: �I didn�t want anyone to have to ask a waiter what anything was!� said Kerry, who remains remarkably unspoiled after her astonishing change in lifestyle from an upbringing in a Warrington council flat to fame with girl group Atomic Kitten and now, after leaving the band, a TV presenter and wife of Westlife heartthrob Bryan.

Little more than an hour earlier I had watched in astonishment as
12,000 girls screamed for Shane and the rest of Westlife. Almost any of them
would have done anything to spend the night with one of their idols.
But there is only one woman Shane is interested in. She is Gillian Walsh,
the bright and gentle Irish girl he has tried to
keep secret for more than a year.

But as we sit chatting in his hotel room with Shane still buzzing with
exctitement from the Sheffiled Arena gig, there are no secrets
anymore. He wants to talk about how they first kissed, how he told her
he loved her, and his hopes one day they will settle down and have
children: "I knew I loved her more or less straight away," says Shane 22,
shatterring a million teenagers dreams. "She has such a
great personality and is the most amazing person I have ever met."

When I first met Shane, the youngest of 7 children, he had a boyish
charm, and talked enthusiastically about everything. Three years on
his passions are still singing and performing, but now there is Gillian
too.

All the attention from women could have turned him into a vain
egomaniac, but his modesty shrugs off his appeal. Sitting curled up in an arm
chair, wearing jeans and an old t-shirt, he has filled out since our
first meeting but he has an air of innocence that belies the experiences
he has gained in Westlife.

As we talk, Gillian, also 22, quietly sorts through a pile of clothes.
She is happy to stay out of the limelight. But Shane says it was he,
not she, who insisted on total secrecy for the first year. Now he wants
the world to know. He says: "I needed to have a more normal
relationship. We kept it quiet for ages, and it was driving me mad cos we couldn't
even walk down the street holding hands."

They still do not like to pose for photographs together and Gillian in
the final year of a business studies degree, keeps a discreet
distance when he is working.

Shane has known Gillian, a cousin of fellow bandmate Kian Egan, since
childhood. But it was only more recently that it became serious. He
says: "I fancied her for an awful long time, but didn't tell her. I didn't
kiss her for ages because I didn't want to come on too strong. The
first time I kissed her was... oh, my God, it was
amazing. We had just gone on our first proper date to the cinema. It
was just a quick kiss, but long enough for her to hopefully want some
more - and she did. Things got better and better, and I started thinking
'she is the one'."

"We had been together for about 4 months when I wanted to tell her I
loved her. I didnt know how to do it so I just said I had a secret.
I kept her guessing for a few weeks. She was dying to get it out of me.
Then she said she had a secret too."
One night I said "I'll tell you my secret if you tell me yours." We
agreed and I told her "I love you". She told hers was that she loved
me too. "It was one of the best moments ever, I'll never forget it."

Will he marry her? "I definately hope so one day" he says. "I can't see
myself ever being happy without her. I call her the perfect package.
She is the girl of my dreams in every sense."

Westlife nominated for Brits

Irish boyband Westlife were nominated in the Best Pop Act category for
this year's Brit awards, but U2 failed to receive any nominations in a
list of contenders topped by Gorillaz. Gorillaz a "virtual" band
featuring Blur's Damon Albarn and hip-hop producer Dan "The Automator"
Nakamura won six nominations, including British Group,Best Album and Best
British Newcomer; they are the second act ever to receive this number of
nominations. Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Dido are each named in
four categories for this year's awards. Kylie, who is up against
Westlife, Blue, S Club 7 and Hear'Say for Best Pop Act, was also nominated for
Best International Female Solo Artist and in the new category of Best
International Album. Robbie is up against Sir Elton John, Craig David,
Ian Brown and Aphex Twin for Best British Male Solo Artist, although his
album, 'Swing When You're Winning' failed to receive any nominations.
The woman who had the biggest-selling album of 2001 in the UK, Dido,
will face Mercury Prize-winner PJ Harvey, Geri Halliwell, Sade and
Sophie Ellis Bextor in the Best British Female Solo Artist category. In the
Best British Group category, Gorillaz are up against Radiohead,
Stereophonics, Travis and Jamiroquai, and against Travis, Dido, Radiohead and
Craig David for Best British Album. New York rockers The Strokes have
been nominated in three of the five international categories. Ireland's
U2 won two awards at last year's ceremony, including a lifetime
achievement award. They were recently named front-runners for this year's
Grammy Awards but clearly failed to impress the Brits' judges this year.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place on February 20.

This years sold-out Childline Concert at the Point will feature Westlife and S Club 7 and is already sold out.
Next Sunday, the 27th of January, Westlife will be joined by a host of International stars and will be covered live by ShowBizIreland.com.
These will include Blue, who scored the number one spot with their debut album "All Rise".
Sexy and sophisticated disco diva Sophie Ellis-Bextor will also appear on the night. She has enjoyed numerous hits including "Take Me Home","Murder On The Dancefloor" and "Lover" since her debut solo single "If This Ain't Love" with DJ Spiller.

THE INDIAN OCEAN HONEYMOON

It's hardly the most romantic of honeymoons. But popstars Bryan
McFadden and Kerry Katona seem happy to share their first
days as man and wife with a couple of friends. They each took a mate
along as they flew out for a fortnight on the paradise island of
Mauritius. And as our exclusive pictures show, they seemed more
interested in larking about as a foursome rather than canoodling
with each other.After leaving their luxury hotel Westlife heart-
throb Bryan and former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry hired a boat for a
cruise on the Indian Ocean. But instead of snuggling up together,
Bryan, 21, sat with his mate while Kerry, also 21, lounged with her
pal on the sundeck. Even when they returned to shore Bryan wandered
off for a cigarette with his mate's girlfriend. And
Kerry was nowhere to be seen when Bryan joined a group of lads for a
game of volleyball. But the newlyweds did manage a few private
moments later when they went for a dip. They had flown out after
tying the knot at a star-studded ceremony in Slane
Castle near Dublin. Bryan and Kerry had guests in stitches with a
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers style song and dance routine.
After the honeymoon Bryan will rejoin Westlife for a new tour while
Kerry, who gave birth to their daughter Molly in September, starts
her new career as a TV presenter

Irish Meteor Music Awards

Irish rock giants U2 and The Cranberries are expected to play this years Irish Meteor Music Awards in Dublin along with Westlife, The Corrs and Samantha Mumba.
The Irish comic Patrick Kielty launched the awards recently in Dublin and is expected to host the show this year in place of Ed Byrne who hosted the show last year when Elton John performed with Ronan Keating.
The awards will be held in Dublin Point Theatre on March 4th and shown on Irish TV.
This year's event will sell over 1,000 tickets to record companies and private companies to raise cash for the charities involved with the awards.

Bryan McFadden and Kerry Katona have cut short their honeymoon because of a tropical storm.
The celebrity couple have travelled back from Mauritius early after being told they could be in danger from a cyclone.
They got married at a church in Co Meath, Ireland just over two weeks ago.
Bryan said: "We had to pack in a hurry to get off the island," reports the Sun.
"The honeymoon was cut short by 24 hours but we're told a class-three cyclone is almost as bad as it can get so we were not going to wait around to see it."

After their dream wedding in County Meath earlier this month, Bryan and Kerry jetted off to the Indian Ocean for a honeymoon in slightly warmer weather. Not everything went according to plan though, and here Bryan explains why the couple had to cut their holiday short - and unlike a lot of today's showbiz stars, it wasn't because of work.
In fact, the reason was just a touch more scary - a hurricane. The force 3 storm (the scale only goes up to 4!) meant that the newly-weds had to decide whether to stay on the island of Mauritius or take an earlier flight home.

�The songs they�re releasing aren�t as special as the stuff they did three or four years ago.�
You can bet TV HITS was straight on the blower for a response from the stars, whose latest alb, �Gold�, has just gone quadruple platinum!
Unfortch, Steps said that they didn�t want to comment on Nicky�s rather rude remarks. But a record company blokey did tell us, �Steps are big fans of Westlife.� Glad that�s sorted then! Ahem....

Pop Idol single is a Westlife ballad

THE Westlife track Evergreen is the mystery song chosen to be the Pop Idol winner�s debut single, I can reveal.
As I disclosed yesterday, contenders WILL YOUNG, GARETH GATES and DARIUS DANESH each recorded versions of the then-secret song at West London�s Olympic studios this week.
Evergreen appeared on Westlife�s most recent album World Of Our Own, which came out in November.
It is a slushy ballad which features the lyrics: �Eyes, like a sunrise, like a rainfall down my soul. And I wonder, why you look at me like that,
�What you�re thinking, what�s behind. Don�t tell me, but it feels like love.�
And the chorus says: �I�m gonna take this moment and make it last for ever.
�I�m gonna give my heart away and pray we�ll stay together
��Cause you�re the one good reason, you�re the only girl that I need,
��Cause you�re more beautiful than I have ever seen.
�I�m gonna take this night and make it Evergreen.�
When the original track was released, Westlife�s KIAN EGAN said of it: �Typical Westlife arms-in-the-air ballad and similar to My Love.
�The beginning sounds a bit Elton John-ish thanks to the piano section.�
When the ITV1 contest�s winner is decided on February 9, their version will be packaged for release on judge SIMON COWELL�s BMG Records. A release date of February 25 has been pencilled in and a video will be swiftly shot just after the final show.
Record label bosses reckon the combination of Pop Idol and Westlife will make the single a surefire No1.
Insiders predict it will sell more than a million copies and will be the fastest-selling debut single ever.
Evergreen will be accompanied on the double A-sided single by a song specially written by Eighties star CATHY DENNIS, who penned KYLIE MINOGUE�s recent mega-hit Can�t Get You Out Of My Head.
GARETH GATES should watch out � maneater PATSY KENSIT is back on the prowl and I am told she has taken quite a shine to him.
The Pop Idol�s mum Wendy said: �I bumped into her in the hairdresser�s opposite the hotel we stay at in London. She said Gareth was wonderful, really lovely, and she warned me to watch out for her.�

Nicky Westlife To Wed?

Westlife star Nicky Byrne will marry his girlfriend "soon" -- after being inspired by his newly-wed bandmate Bryan McFadden.
The singer dates Irish Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's eldest daughter Georgina, and, following Bryan's nuptials with ex-Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona earlier this month, says it's just a matter of fitting a marriage ceremony into his hectic schedule.
He says, "I will marry Georgina. Since Bryan and Kerry got married we have spoken about it and both of us definitely want to get around to it soon.
"The problem is that I'm in the band and always touring. For us anyway the commitment is already there the rest is just formality."
Byrne wants to celebrate the union with a "real Irish wedding" -- but is still unsure whether to cash in on the event with an exclusive deal with a celebrity magazine, like McFadden.
"With her being the Taoiseach's daughter we know there will be a lot of publicity and we want to have a real Irish wedding," he says.
"I don't know if we will do the whole OK or Hello! thing. A lot of people have said to us you would be mad not to as it is a lot of money. But, I just look at all the hassle Bryan had.
"We have nearly finished decorating our new house. I think we may do the house for the magazine but I don't know about our wedding. You may have a few houses in your lifetime but a wedding is a once in a lifetime thing. Still, if the money was right, maybe?" -- WENN

Pop Idol single is a Westlife cover!

The Pop Idol winner's debut single will be a cover of a Westlife track
The song, already recorded by the remaining three finalists and to be released by the eventual winner of Pop Idol, will be the Westlife track, Evergreen. The song featured on Westlife's recent album, World Of Our Own. The double A-sided single will also feature Anything Is Possible, specially written by Cathy Dennis, who also wrote Kylie's Can't Get You Out Of My Head.
Westlife's Kian described Evergreen as, 'A typical Westlife arms-in-the-air ballad and similar to My Love.'
The single will be released on BMG Records, the label where Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell is A&R executive. A release date of 25 February has been earmarked and a video will be shot as soon as the final show is screened.
