About Oakley
S o you wonder who Oakley is?

Back in 1976, a baby girl named Varavarai (Oh+) was born into the family of somewhat famous architect Jedkamchorn Phromyothi and his wife Chongdee. That spunky little thing attended Jurairat Kindergarten, and proceded to Mater Dei School for excellent education. In 1993, she was sent to Whittier, California for two months. It was there the tomboyish Oh+ was given an American name of Oakley. Her host dad at the time picked the gun-toting Miss Sure Shot Annie Oakley as Oh+'s namesake. And the name seemed to stick.

Upon her return to Thailand, Oakley decided to follow her brothers' footsteps and make the giant leap across the Pacific. She entered 11th grade at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Orange County, California. She was the only international student there and the first ever to graduate from the school.

Oakley then entered University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communications in 1995, and picked up a minor in Cinema-Television. She figured might as well put up with the work loads since USC is the best cinema school in the country. During her undergraduate years, Oakley ran about campus with Trojan Pride--USC official spirit organization--during football season, helped out with Thai Student Association, worked hard for Annenberg Center, and promoted movies for Warner Bros. Besides the passion for film, Oakley also developed interests in the Internet and geek culture, and creative writing.

Oakley graduated with honors in 1998, one semester early. Still undecided about what to do next and with the support of her parents, she took one year off to work full-time in Los Angeles in order to figure out the beginning of the rest of her life. Oakley landed a receptionist job at a dot com, Hollywood Stock Exchange (www.hsx.com), and remained there as their intern after she decided to return to USC graduate school in January 2000. All of these times at USC, Oakley used to live alone in a small studio apartment in Miracle Mile/Museum Row area of Los Angeles, 15 minutes west of campus.

Oakley just married in January 2002 to a wonderful American, Brandon, soon after her graduation in December. Currently, she is working for a small political public relations firm. Oakley and her husband now resides 30 mile south of LA in Long Beach.
