These supporting battalions are loaned out from other Brigades to give the 55th Brigade additional Combat Support and Combat Service Support capability.

The brigade's heart and soul is the Tactical Operations Center (TOC). This is where the staff tracks and coordinates the current battlefield. Planning for future operations, analysis of the enemy, and coordination with Army Aviation and Air Force aircraft are conducted here as well. The Brigade Commander does not fight his units from here, but he can. The Brigade Commander has his Tactical Command Post (TACP) which is forward on the battlefield that he fights from.

HISTORICAL HIGHLIGHTS PENNSYLVANIA NATIONAL GUARD |

The following pictures are pictures of the train wreck that killed 33 men of the 109th on their way to Camp Atterbury,Indiana on Sept.11,1950. This accident happened right after the time when the 28th Div. was activated for the Korean War on Sept.5,1950. This section of the web page is dedicated to these men who were the first casualties of the Korean War for the 28th Inf.Div.
The photos were made available through the courtesy of SFC Lewis Crocker, Hq & Hq Co. 55th Brigade. SFC Crocker has been a great help to me in getting the information I needed in order to get this site on the road.As the saying goes, he was a ball of fire.
