The Lexigraphers’ Guild has a monopoly on the |

manufacture and sale of vellum, parchment, scrolls, |
|
inks, quills and the like. Paper is rare. A master |
|
Lexigrapher usually buys lambskin for parchment |
|
and calfskin for vellum from local tanneries. Some |
|
lexigraphers sell maps and manuscripts. While the |
|
lexigraphers do not have a monopoly on the written |
|
word, many scribes have associate memberships in |
|
the guild. Most simplefolk can neither read nor |
|
