About the Director Ms. Bejm is currently in her fourth year of teaching. She is the band director at both West Friendship and Dayton Oaks Elementary Schools in Howard County. Ms. Bejm is a May 2004 summa cum laude graduate of Salisbury University where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Music with a K-12 Concentration in Education. While at Salisbury University Ms. Bejm was president of her local MENC: The National Association for Music Education Chapter 416 as well as principal trumpet for the University's Wind Ensemble, Brass Quintet, and Jazz Ensemble, member of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra on both trumpet and french horn, member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra on french horn, member of the Classical Guitar Ensemble on guitar as well as performer on trumpet and french horn for the University's choirs. While attending Salisbury University Ms. Bejm was awarded the Presidential Scholarship, Hope Scholarship, Nettie C. Bentley Scholarship, Guerrieri University Center Award for Music, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, Achievement Key Award, (NAIBM): MENC National Instrumental Teacher Grant, entrance into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, and consistent Dean's List member. Currently Ms. Bejm is pursuing her graduate music education degree from The Peabody Conservatory of Music. In addition to the performing groups at Salisbury University Ms. Bejm is currently a member of The Annapolis Wind Symphony, The Columbia Orchestra and The Fugitive Brass Quintet. Some fun facts about Ms. Bejm is that she was asked to perform with Barry Manilow, where she got to perform Manilow's original songs amongst his original orchestra members. Ms. Bejm has twin sisters three years younger than her. One is in college and the other is a teacher at Marriotts Ridge High School in Howard County. Ms. Bejm went to Hammond Elementary School, Laurel Woods Elementary School, Hammond Middle School and Atholton High School in Howard County. Ms. Bejm is also vegetarian and can be seen from time to time on her Gravity Longboard (skateboard), which she leaves in her car in case the right opportunity were to arise. You'll also notice pictures of Coda, Ms. Bejm's singing, talking, and trumpet playing pooch, sneaking their way onto your worksheets and handouts.
