Ancient Genealogy and Manuscripts

  • Reconstruction of ancient genealogy through Manuscripts from 800 to 1800.
  • Large volumes of ancient manuscripts are unused in the national repositories.
  • 1500 & 1600 documents are now in the Manuscripts department.
  • Fiants give further links to sources.
  • O'Maelechlainn, King o Meath, links with the Gaelic period.
  • It should be noted that the majority of Irish people would find it hard to link up with the ancient Irish in these manuscripts, but you never know.
