History
The Women’s Guild in Oman has over 300 members and welcomes women of all ages and nationalities. Whilst the majority of our members are expatriate wives, we do have a few local ladies as members as well, and would particularly like to encourage working women and women who have come to Oman on their own to work.
We try to present a varied programme to our members, including cultural visits to the local museums and forts, health & beauty presentations that range from serious subjects, such as Breast Cancer, to the more light-hearted affair of hair and make-up. Our aim is to enjoy ourselves whilst raising monies for a variety of local charities and our Christmas Lunch and Croquet Mornings are always well attended.
Our focus is to raise money within the community for various charity projects. We allocate funds at the end of our financial year, but do consider any emergency appeals that we may receive during the year. We are always grateful to receive donations from local companies, which we use as raffle prizes to raise money as well.
The Women’s Guild Committee is run entirely by volunteers, many of whom give a lot of time and effort in ensuring our events run smoothly and that the Guild continues to grow.
This is our 32nd year in Oman, and we felt it would be the right time to give the Women’s Guild a quick brush-up! Our meetings have been more upbeat, we are certainly trying to be more professional in our approach to our functions and administrative duties – judging from the attendance figures at our meetings so far this year, we are on the right path!
The Guild meetings are the ideal place to meet new friends and to learn about the wonderful country that we are living in. We hope the Guild continues to grow from strength to strength.
