Reunion
By Sarah I.

Note: Written in Grace's perspective about her encounter with Leo from "Love is in the Airplane."

Welcome back.
You seem unchanged.
I’m not certain that it’s a good thing,
For you’ve hurt me in the past.

How I wept.
My heart strived for survival
With little hope of pulling through.
Yet it overcame the obstacles.

Am I still angry?
No, the hatred stopped.
The fury faded like the sun into the night,
And depression no longer consumes me.

Yes, there are things I miss.
The sound of your voice,
The scent you always carry with you,
Your touch on my cheek.

True, I miss these things
And it’s a joy to revisit them,
But I cannot go with you.
I can’t sacrifice so much again.

I know you don’t understand,
But a day, a week, a month from now
You’ll see.
This is how it needs to be.

But Ill never forget you.
