Step 1: Run the installer in:
Screw the Readme/Installation

Step 1.5 You will need Microsoft's .NET Framework v1.1 installed if you don't already have it.
You can download and install the framework from Microsoft's Windows Update site here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Step 2: Create an online gameplay account here
(You can do this while the installer runs)
NOTE - Never sign onto a friend's computer with your account - use one of his/hers.
The way the cheat security system works, the system permanently links your account to any computer you log onto with it.
If you and your friend become linked because you ignore this warning, then it will boot one of you everytime the other attempts to login.
Very annoying - trust me, it's happened to me!

Step 3: There should be a shortcut on your desktop called "Allegiance" or "Allegiance Online" or some such.
This will run ASGS, the cheat-protection system.
Sign in with the username and password you created in Step 2.
Blammo, you're away.

NOTE - The installer may not be the very latest version of Allegiance. Both the security system and the game itself will probably have had patches installed by the development team since I created this CD. Just be patient and the programs will update themselves automatically.

Troubleshooting

If you have problems, then post on the Helpline subforum on the Free Allegiance website. You will need to create a forum account. (It helps if your forum account username matches your online account name).
Once you have done that, you will be able to access the Helpline forum
And for the love of god, please read the Read Me First thread at the top of the Helpline forum.
