About the Founders
Joel & Jennifer co-founded DARLING CETACEANS in 2002. While they are not experts in the field of marine mammalogy, they have had experience and are passionate about learning and sharing what they learn.

Both founders attended Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. Joel majored in business, but took several marine science courses. Jennifer graduated with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology.

While in college, both became active with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network. It is through this organization that they were able to first work with several species of whales and dolphins.

After college, Joel worked in the education department of the Texas State Aquarium. He now spends full time on projects for DARLING CETACEANS.

Jennifer spent time conducting air quality surveys before taking her current roll in the genetics department at the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research. She spends her "off" hours devoted to the organization.

Both founders continue to find new opportunities to gain experience and education about marine mammals, such as getting PADI certified in Manatee Awareness.
