Beijing - My Thoughts
Trip to: Beijing, China
When: 2007
This was my first time going to China and I had mixed feelings of dread, worry and utter excitement before the trip, when I was at the packing stages. I would be going with 79 other students from my school as it was a school immersion programme and I wouldn't be with my parents. So I'd be alone and independently "struggling to survive". Well, of course not. I was just exaggerating.
The flight there was very comfortable and I made a new acquaintance, of which we exchanged Hotmail (MSN) addresses. I watched Shrek 3 on the little tv screen, and after that, played some weird games. However, I was unable to sleep, goodness knows why.
I was "bunking" with PeiE, and I have to admit, in the first few days of the trip at night, I was struck by a sudden, almost overwhelming bout of homesickness, and I called home every night. Yeesh. Anyway, it was fun talking to my parents. The hotel was nice and comfy, but cold in the morning. Maybe it's because I don't take the cold very well.
We visited several tourist attractions. Of all, I liked the Summer Palace the best. XD We also went to a school to witness China school life. The students there were warm and friendly. The welcomed us with open arms and were extremely inviting and great hosts.
When it was time to go back home, I was glad as I treasure home life the best and as usual, I am EXTREMELY "loyal" to Singapore. Besides, I like the fast-paced city life in Singapore. Well, it was a great trip and I coped very well and so-called controlled my diet, not eating sweets and the sort. Haha. XD
All in all, it was worth it. =D
