Face to Fate - Character Summaries
Here are the main characters of the show... I'll skip Anne Heung as Yue Lan, as she doesn't have much screen time and anyway I don't really get her character that much. Or maybe it's because I just don't like Yue Lan (the character) much. There are some
spoilers below, so beware.
Frankie Lam as Lei Bo Yee
Bo Yee is a intellectual, good in fortune telling and well versed in martial arts. He can predict a lot of things, and he believes that
one should believe in destiny, but not submit to it. He doesn't like to pry into the matters of the Wu Xia world activities, but he is kind-hearted and can't stay out of helping others, and soon he finds himself included in the former.
Raymond Lam as Lai Yeuk Yee
Yeuk Yee is an absolute playboy, very conceited and also sometimes annoying, but there is a reason for it. It turns out that he has a incurable disease that causes him to first age then die, and he finds there is no meaning in life, and therefore resorts to playing around. Becoming friends with Bo Yee makes him realise the meaning of life and he changes for the better.
Tavia Yeung as Yip Mung Sik
She can be irritating and immature at times, but as the show progresses, she becomes less headstrong and hot-headed, and slows down to listen to advice. She is impulsive sometimes, and ends up making a mistake most of the time. In the end, she is more mature and less annoying.
Selena Li as Yin Yei Loi
She portrays a mysterious but beautiful innkeeper whose husband has died. She also has a adopted son from her husband's first marriage, and she is patient and understanding. However, she cannot tolerate playboys. She is witty and smart, and is good at kung fu as well.
John Chiang as Shum Sing Nam
A goody-two-shoes, he is very concerned about the good side, and he is a righteous and upright man, loyal to his subordinates and disciples alike. He is strict in admistering punishment, but he does love his daughter, although he seems intolerant of her wrongdoings. Little do we know that he, too, holds a secret...
Nancy Wu as Shum Kon Hong
More impulsive, hot-headed, headstrong, impatient and stubborn than anyone else and even Mung Sik, Kon Hong is Sing Nam's daughter, and she always thinks of making it big. She is very annoying, because she always takes matters into her own hands, therefore destroying everyone's perfect plans and causing trouble for her father, the good side and even herself. She, however, matures when she meets Lau Fan Yu, and soon because more tolerable for us viewers.
Derek Kwok as Lau Fan Yu
An assasin who is great in martial arts, Lau Fan Yu has been labelled as having "nine lives", meaning that he cannot be defeated. Seemingly hard-hearted at first, he actually has a sad story behind his past. His family had been brutally murdered in front of his eyes. While he managed to escape, he was very miserable, and soon become a killer. After meeting Kon Hong, he too also changes for the battle, and retires to live a normal life.
