Face to Fate is a 2006 TVB show. Frankie Lam, Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Selena Li, John Chiang, Anne Heung, Nancy Wu and Derek Kwok act in this ancient drama serial. Ko-Shu-Tin, the leader of the Evil Way, meeting with his now-loyal follower, Raymond. Since the all-important Golden Seal Battle is very near, Ko-Shu-Tin has decided to let Raymond lead the battle for the Evil Way.Raymond would then be able to save his beloved Selena.
The battle is now about to commence and everyone has gathered for the big event that is going to take place. The 3 judges are not from China, so everything will be won fair and square. Frankie, Tavia, Raymond and everyone starts arriving and taking their seats. Some are getting ready for battle. To win, they must win 3 out of the 5 rounds.
Sparks are flying between Raymond and Frankie. I don't mean love, I mean that they're really revving up for battle. When Frankie asks where is Ko-Shu-Tin, Raymond replies that he's more than good enough to settle this by himself and he's doing this for Selena's sake.
Everyone is discussing about the line-up of the battle. As you know, each side knows their opponents very well, and the line-up is crucial for each to win the battle. Tavia just looks on suspiciously. Although she supports the Good Way, she has to sit with the Evil Way because Ko-Shu-Tin is her father. Raymond intelligently guesses that Frankie is going to put the Sword Collector in the first round because the Sword Collector is the most reliable.
True enough, Raymond's theory proves true and Frankie sends the Sword Collector forward. The battle is probably going to be furious. Now the fight begins. With Raymond's almost-unstoppable drone, the Sword Collector starts the unevitable fight. However, the drone thingy unleashes the sword that the Sword Collector used human blood to make. All at once, guilt rushes back to the Sword Collector, rendering him unable to move much. This gives the drone thingy the opportunity to cut off his long sleeve in the process; fortunately, he didn't land a hit on the Sword Collector.
Just as things are about to get a lot worse, Frankie quickly thinks of a solution - he gestures to the Sword Collector to cover his eye. Luckily, the Sword Collector has that ripped sleeve with him and immediately ties it around his head. Now that he can't see the sword, the guilt traps stop and he is able to fight well again. It turns out the sword was a fake and that it was made so that the Sword Collector will be stunned and lose the battle. Evil Raymond. =(
When the Sword Collector hits the drone's heart, it doesn't work! The sword doesn't enter and nothing happens; only the Sword Collector is repelled. The Sword Collector realises that Raymond must have used drugs on them. As everyone has their Achilles' heel, the Sword Collector somehow guesses that the drone thingy's weak point is his eyes and mouth, and he slashes away furiously at the drone, and away goes his eyes. The sword also enter his mouth. Blood spurts everywhere. Disgusting. X___X But... Yay! You go, Sword Collector! Yay~~ =D Round 1 goes to Good Way! =D =D =D
Good Way stands up to cheer. Raymond stands up too. He leaves first, a super angry expression on his face. It's nobody's guess that he's mad with the outcome of Round 1. Meanwhile, Good Way is sitting around a table and discussing the battle. Some congratulate the Sword Collector. The 2nd diciple also says that his swordplay is a real eyeopener. I totally agree. =D However, the Sword Collector attributes his win to Frankie. Oh, and it turned out that Master Death Wish, the monk, had tipped Frankie off about the weak points. Now, Frankie decides that Pak-Ching-Shu should go first instead of Taoist Wood. Why? Raymond was able to predict Frankie's moves, and so to be safe, Frankie wants Pak-Ching-Shu to go first to take Raymond - and the Evil Way - by surprise.
Back in the Heavenly Desire Palace, everyone is complaining about losing. Raymond looks unhappy and says it's only a minor setback. He even criticises the others. Raymond knows that they are going to change the line-up and starts planning...
Round 2 begins. Raymond's prediction is correct - Pak-Ching-Shu comes out. The 2nd drone is able to defeat him by casting a long net on him, entangling him. Pak-Ching-Shu is unable to escape, and the 2nd drone comes up to him and clobbers him on the head. Ouch. X___X Raymond and Frankie exchange glances. Frankie looks rather sad at his friend turning out to be a cruel and evil Evil Way follower, but Raymond just looks unconcerned and like he couldn't care two hoots. X____X
Now, the Evil Way has changed their tactics. To be in Raymond's good books, they're praising him to the skies. Buttering him up, to be exact. Such irritating people. =( Now, they are pretty enthusiastic about winning. [[I hope they'll be complacent and lose. Muhuhahaha.]] Unfortunately, what I hope won't happen. Raymond has created a stronger drone that goes around wreaking havoc and running down Evil Way people. Only the bat person was able to stop him, luckily. Raymond is definitely happy with the outcome of this exellent and improved drone. Bat doesn't look happy and says he did this on purpose. Raymond replied with a yes and said that he used the Unity Needle to increase the drone's power. Now, the drone is invincible and even when he's dead, he can continue to fight. That is, until his blood runs out. The Evil Way people lying on the floor start to stand up and calls him despicable.
Raymond is now back with Selena. She still hasn't woke up and Raymond is sitting by the ice bed, telling her the day's events. Two more rounds and Ko-Shu-Tin will teach him how to heal her and she'll then wake up. He smiles happily as he says that. He hallucinates though. Selena wakes up suddenly and says that they are drifting apart and that he has changed, no longer the Raymond that she once loved. He has become a stranger and fearful. Raymond claims that he's doing it all for her, which is true. However, Selena shakes her head and tells him that she doesn't want him to be like this, helping the Evil Way and aiding in the process of making evil prevail. Tavia suddenly comes in, breaking Raymond's little dream. Tavia tells him that he should turn back as there's still time to do so. But... Raymond refuses, saying that she won't wake up if she turns back.
Meanwhile, Pak-Ching-Shu wakes up from his bad hit just a while back. Everyone rushes to him and showers their concern over him. Pak-Ching-Shu is really upset at losing, but Frankie tells him that he already did his best and it's ok. Everyone is discussing how to win, and the Hong couple are unhappy about the injustice about Raymond not playing fair.
Back in the Evil Way palace, Tavia is angered by the unfairness of Raymond stealing the power of the three Evil Way people [[I'll nickname them 3Es to shorten these typing stuff]]. Tavia says that they can still contribute and they're not useless. This touches the 3Es' hearts and they say they'll serve her faithfully and every wish would be their command. Tavia tries to tip Frankie off when she learns that the drone is really dangerous but before she can leave, Raymond stops her immediately. Great, so now the Good Way is really doomed... X___X
Round 3. Taoist Wood steps forward. Great, I CAN'T BEAR TO WATCH THIS DISASTER!! Fighting ensues. When Taoist Wood fights, a strong force is released. Although Taoist Wood aims for the drone's eyes and the drone gets hit and falls, it still stands and attacks Taoist Wood. Frankie steps in, however, and stops the drone from killing Taoist Wood. That's a foul, but Frankie says that Raymond is also cheating by using a complete drone controlled by only Raymond. Round 3 goes to Evil Way. X____X
Tavia and Bat person try to see Ko-Shu-Tin, but Raymond tells them that he's not around. If Tavia really wants to see him, Raymond says he can bring her there to meet him.
Tavia reports the sucking of power to her father, but Ko-Shu-Tin instead praises Raymond for the success. Yes, to them, little sacrifices are unavoidable, and Ko-Shu-Tin finds it gratifying that Raymond is learning fast.
The Good Way is discussing tactics again. If they lose Round 4, the battle is lost, and this is getting serious. The score so far:
Round 1 - Sword Collector vs drone - Good Way
Round 2 - Pak-Ching-Shu vs drone - Evil Way
Round 3 - Taoist Wood vs Super drone - Evil Way
If the Good Way wins Round 4, they have a chance to win the overall battle if they win Round 5 too. But if they lose Round 4, even if they win Round 5, it'll only be 2/5 on their score, and they still can't win. So this battle is also equally crucial as Round 5. The Hong couple have been practising Unity Sword, and they're confident of winning.
Now, the once-rich now-recluse Shum Sing-nam is telling of his prowess to the poor people. Nancy and Derek come to find Nancy's father, Sing-nam, duh. However, Sing-nam doesn't recognise his own daughter. However, Derek is cleverer. He greets Sing-nam as his leader and Sing-nam is appeased. Suddenly, Sing-nam wants to go to some peak and rushes off with Derek and Nancy hot on his heels.
Meanwhile, a physician is doing a check-up on the Hong wife because she suddenly felt faint. Here's the big surprise: Siu Yee is PREGNANT! Yes, pregnant! Siu Yee is elated at the news. However, now they can't fight in the battle. Now, goodness, just WHO is going to take their place?! [[Of course I know, but the time's not right to tell you fans yet. Haha.]] Suddenly Derek comes. =D
So sweet! Derek continuously protects Nancy. =D =D =D Everyone wants to kill Sing-nam and Derek now. X____X Frankie decides to get Derek to take the Hong couple's place!
Although Nancy wants to leave, Derek says that Frankie's suggestion is the perfect chance for him to redeem himself. Then, Nancy won't have to be on the run with him all the time and Derek won't be the No. 1 Criminal in the kung fu world. Nancy worries that if Derek participates, he might not make it out alive. Derek insists on joining. And so, Derek is now in. =D =D =D
As Good Way sent in a list of representives at first, they need the consent of the Evil Way to let Derek in. Raymond agrees to that, but he wants a concession - he gets to enter the last round. He says that because he knows that Frankie will be joining the last round and he believes that he is the only one who can defeat Frankie. This is getting intense.
Nancy prays for Derek's safety. Her friend comforts her meanwhile. Then Nancy realises she's PREGNANT! Yay! =D
Here goes Round 4. Fight, fight, fight. Yadadada. The drone's helmet and armour are made of iron. It's near impossible to get through it. Derek is wounded. Blood spurts out. Derek, however, doesn't give up. He can't put his 'Destruction' thing into fullplay because he isn't evil anymore. Nancy shows up suddenly and shouts that she's pregnant and cries. Derek has a great boost and immediately brings 'Destruction' out, breaking the drone's armour and killing it.
Now, Derek is forgiven, and he is elated that he's becoming a father. Mushy scenes follow. =D =D
Frankie is downcast at having to fight Raymond the next day. Death Wish encourages him, though.
Now again back to Selena. Raymond is so happy that the last round is the next day. He is confident that he can win. However, he realises she has a very weak pulse. Tavia walks in and tells him that the reason why she's not waking out is because he is so evil and she would rather die than be with him. After, she walks out and Raymond is left to reflect on what he's doing. He is extremely sad and asks Selena what she wants him to do. Of course, there's no answer and he continues to sit by the ice bed, gazing at her wistfully.
While Frankie is practising, Raymond approaches him and asks about Selena's future. Frankie tells him the same thing as Tavia did and asks him to turn back now and leave the Evil Way. Raymond, as usual, doesn't listen to Frankie's advice. As Frankie is having circulation problems from his last run-in with the now-insane Sing-nam and got hit by the Red Sand Palm Strike or something like that, Raymond clears it for him. His reason? He wants a good fight, to win fair and square. He is no longer a friend of Frankie, only hatred remains. He tells Frankie to give the battle his best, because... He will kill him.
And that's the end of Episode 29.
