About John Durling #7


        Durling has been around in the automotive and racing world for many years. Durling owned his own automotive repair shop for many years and even his own Late Model. In 1981, Durling started racing go-karts. In 1986, Durling bought a Late Model and jumped behind the wheel of his own Late Model until 1992. During Durling's first year of Late Model racing, he was named Rookie of the Year in the Late Model Division at Grandview Speedway. In 1993, Durling got a ride with Crew Chief/Owner Bill Wharton and continues to be a part of Wharton Motorsports. Over the years of racing, John has become a very competitive driver at Grandview Speedway. Since being with Wharton Motorsports John has finished in the top 8 in the points standings every year and won 11 feature wins at Grandview Speedway as of the end of the 2000 Racing Season. Last year, John won four races in one season, which includes three regular season wins and a Thunder on the Hill 5/25's win. Four wins in a season was a career high. In both the 1998 season and 2000 season, Durling won the Sportsmanship Award in the late Model Division at Grandview Speedway. Good luck in the 2001 season.
