He took a deep breath as he pressed the doorbell, hoping that someone was home. It was very rare that Johnny, their manager, gave them a day off, so he decided to visit one of his old friends since he was in town.
The clanking of locks were from the other side of the door as it opened a crack. A small child, seemingly the age of four or so, peeped her head out to examine the guest. Her face lit up as she spotted the familiar person standing before her, smiling sweetly.
"CHRIIIISSS!!" she shouted gleefully as she threw her tiny body against Chris and hugged his knees. Chris took a few steps back to maintain his balance as he softly chuckled to himself.
"Hey, Alexa. Happy to see me?" he asked as he tried to pry Alexa away.
"Didcha bring me anything? Didcha? Huh?" Alexa asked eagerly as she bounced up and down.
"Of course," he replied as he pointed at the box he had dropped when Alexa had pounced on him. She giggled as she ran towards the present and began tearing apart the gift-wrap to reveal the mystery of what's inside.
"Alexa... who is it?" a voice was heard from inside the home. Chris looked up, and standing in the doorway was a tall, beautiful lady in her late twenties, with a look of surprise plastered on her face.
"Christopher!" she exclaimed as she walked over to her old friend with open arms.
"Katherine, I missed you!" Chris smiled as he gave her a hug. "I was just in town and had a day off, so I decided to visit."
The precious moment was abruptly ended when a shriek of delight was heard. Alexa bounced up and down, clapping her hands and celebrating. Inside the box was a medium sized, fluffy teddy bear, glass eyes and all. "EEEEKKK!! Its so cute!" Alexa screamed as she ran over to Chris and hugged him tightly again. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you-"
"You're welcome," Chris interrupted, seeing that she wouldn't stop until someone said something.
Katherine smiled at the sight of her four year old daughter, hugging the stuffing out of the teddy bear. She turned her attention back to Chris. "Won't you come in?" she invited. "David's at work right, now."
"Sure," Chris agreed as he followed Katherine and Alexa into their house. As soon as Chris stepped into their family room, a cry was heard from above. It wasn't the cry of someone in need for help, nor the cry of a teenybopper fan, Chris would know. It was a baby's cry, searching for its mother. Katherine smiled and pointed at the ceiling, indicating the location of the baby.
"Excuse me, I have to go see what's wrong," Katherine said as she headed for the stairs, leaving Chris alone with Alexa in the family room.
Chris gave Alexa a smile. "Since when did you have a new sibling?" he asked curiously.
"A long time ago. Her name is Elizabeth, Lizzie for short. I helped name her," Alexa replied proudly, while squeezing her new teddy bear.
"Really? You must be really proud to have a little sister."
"Uh huh." Alexa patted her new teddy bear on the head gently, and smiled. "I'm gonna name him Teddy."
"That's a nice name for a teddy bear."
"Uh huh." Alexa gave her new toy one last squeeze, and looked back up at Chris.
"Chris, can I ask you a question?"
"Anything."
"Where did Elizabeth come from?"
"Oh...." Chris raised an eyebrow. How was he supposed to handle this? "Ask your dad."
"Daddy won't answer me."
"Why?"
"Cuz he goes and says 'Ask your Mom.'"
"Then ask your mom."
"She says 'Ask your Dad.'"
"Oh." Chris hesitated.
Alexa sighed, and repeated her question. "Chris, where did Lizzie come from?"
"Umm..." Chris turned his attention back to Katherine, who was just coming down the stairs with Elizabeth in her hands. Saved, he said to himself, relieved.
"Chris," Katherine said as she showed him her new bundle of joy. "This is Elizabeth Claire Roberts. She's 9 months old," she introduced. Elizabeth giggled in reply.
"She's cute," Chris told her.
Katherine smiled, and opened her mouth to reply, but was cut off by the sound of the telephone ringing. She rolled her eyes and sighed. "Can you hold Elizabeth while I get the telephone?" she asked Chris as she held the baby out to him.
"Oh... I can't..." Chris stuttered, trying to recall the last time he held a baby in his arms.
"Don't worry, it's easy," she reassured him as she handed Elizabeth over to him. Chris tried his best to hold the baby, and fortunately, was successful.
The telephone rang again.
Katherine walked out of the family room to answer the phone, and left Chris alone with Alexa. And Elizabeth.
Chris stared at the baby that was put in his arms, and she stared right back at him with her big chocolate eyes. Elizabeth studied the new face that was before her, and let out a little giggle.
"Gerber!" she exclaimed as she giggled again.
"Look, Elizabeth likes you!" Alexa exclaimed happily. Chris smiled back at the little girl he held in his arms.
Katherine walked back into the family room, a look of distress on her face. She sank down on the seat beside Chris, and sighed deeply. "What's wrong?" Chris asked curiously as he placed Lizzie on his lap.
"My client... stupid business... I have to leave for a short while and take care of something..." She sighed again and glanced at her children, and continued. "Which means I have to leave Alexa and Elizabeth. I have to find a sitter, as soon as possible." She turned her attention to Chris, and her face lit up. An almost evil smile came upon her face. "Chris... would you..."
Chris's face fell immediately. "Oh nonono... I am not babysitting. I know barely anything about kids, let alone babies. Are you sure you'd trust me?" Chris asked, hoping to lure her away from her idea.
"You did well last time I left Alexa with you and your friends. I beg you, just for one day, please. Take care of Elizabeth and Alexa," she pleaded.
"I'm not sure..."
"Chris? Please?" Katherine asked.
He sighed. He hated his stupid weakness... he could never say no to Katherine. "All right."
Katherine smiled, and turned her attention to Elizabeth, still in Chris's arms. "You hear that, baby? Chris is gonna take care of you and Alexa..."
Chris looked at Elizabeth, and then back at Alexa. She stared back at him innocently, squeezing her teddy bear and smiling like crazy.
Great, just perfect, Chris thought to himself. What did I just get myself into?
Shortly after Katherine had left to attend to some unfinished business, Chris decided to take Alexa and Elizabeth back to the house he shared with JC and Justin, with Katherine's permission, of course. He barged through the door, holding Alexa's hand in one and an infant seat in the other.
Lance looked up from the newspaper and gave him a confused look. "We leave you alone for a couple of hours, and you come home with two kids..." he started as he shook his head in shame.
"LAAAAANCE!" Alexa screamed as she let go of Chris and ran towards Lance. "Oh my god..." Lance said as she jumped on him and planted a kiss on his cheek.
"I missed you!" she exclaimed.
But I didn't miss you, Lance thought to himself. He remembered the last time she visited... he never did get his wallet back.
JC peeked his head into the room as he heard the familiar shriek. "Christopher Alan Kirkpatrick, what have you brought home this time?" he asked as he took a step towards Chris, only to be knocked down by an extremely hyper Alexa.
"JAAAAYYYYCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!" she shouted happily as she gave him a tight hug, tight enough to cut off his circulation.
"Get her off, anyone..." JC pleaded. Justin laughed softly as he walked towards JC and swept Alexa off the ground (and off JC).
"Justin!" Alexa squealed even louder as she gave him an even tighter hug.
"Alexa," Justin replied, catching his breath. "Let go... you're suffocating me."
"Oh." Alexa let go of her grip, and bounced her way back to Chris.
Chris sighed. "I see y'all remember Alexa."
"Who could forget?" Joey chuckled as he walked into the room to investigate all the screaming and shouting. He gave Chris a curious glance, and pointed at the infant seat in his hand.
"JOOOOEEEEEEYYYY!!" Alexa screamed and jumped off the couch to give him a hug, but Justin grabbed her shirt just in time to restrain her.
"And what did the dog drag home today?" Joey asked, raising an eyebrow suspiciously.
"This," Chris answered, propping the seat down on the couch. "This is Lizzie, Alexa's little sister."
"MY little sister," Alexa chirped proudly. "I helped name her. Isn't she cute?"
Justin gave JC a look, who glanced at Joey, who looked at Lance, who looked back at Chris. "You just agreed for us to take care of Alexa AND her little brat sister? For one whole day?" Lance asked as he pointed to Elizabeth, who dozed off into a deep sleep at the moment.
"...Yeah..." Chris grinned sheepishly. "But I figured, it WAS our day off, and Katherine needed a babysitter in such short notice, and I just happened to be there..."
Everyone groaned. As if babysitting Alexa once wasn't enough, today they had to handle her AND a little baby girl, an added bonus.
"Come on, guys, it isn't THAT bad."
"No comment, Chris. No comment," Justin sighed.
Alexa pouted. "You don't like meee?" Her lower lip began to tremble, and her eyes began to fill with tears.
"Nonono, it's not you!" JC quickly reassured her, before she started to cry again. Too late.
Alexa's cheeks flushed to a bright shade of red. She let out a bloodcurdling scream and started to cry. Tears poured down her cheeks and she began to pound her little fists against anything she could, including Joey.
"Hey, hey HEY!! STOP THAT!" Joey shouted as he shot up and stepped away from Alexa and her temper tantrum. She let out an even louder cry and threw her teddy bear with all her might at Justin. Fortunately, his good eye allowed him to be aware of the incoming object flying towards him, and he caught it.
"Alexa, no, please stop," Lance pleaded. Déjà vu, he thought to himself as he recalled the first time Alexa came to their house.
Elizabeth, who was awakened by Alexa's screaming, looked up at the five new faces surrounding her. She examined each of them carefully, and concluded that none of them were her mother, nor her father. So, she began to bawl.
"Oh no, not you too," Chris said as he picked up Elizabeth from his infant seat.
Pretty soon, the whole house was filled with screams and sobs of Alexa and Elizabeth.
"You hate me!" Alexa whined in between screams as she buried her face into the Justin's shirt.
"No, we don't hate you," Justin tried to reassure her.
"Yes you do! You don't wanna babysit meeeee!"
"Yes we do! Tell you what," Justin proposed. "We'll take you out for lunch or something. I'll treat you to some ice cream," he asked, hoping to convince Alexa to stop crying.
It worked. At the sound of the word 'ice cream', she looked up at Justin, with tearful eyes, and sniffled. "Really?"
"Yes. But no chocolate," Justin warned.
Alexa smiled, grabbed the sleeve of Justin's shirt, and blew her nose on it. Justin stared at her with a look of disgust on his face, but remained silent. She sniffed again, and leaped off the couch, and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.
Chris sighed. One down, one more to go, he thought as he looked at Elizabeth, still crying. "Here, Justin, you hold her," Chris said as he handed the baby over to his younger friend.
"What do I do?" Justin asked as he took Elizabeth from Chris. Elizabeth paused his crying for one second to examine the new face, and resumed her crying, even louder and more annoying than before.
"She doesn't like me," Justin concluded as he shoved Elizabeth over to Lance. "You take her."
Lance raised an eyebrow, but willingly accepted the baby. Almost immediately after Justin had let go, Elizabeth stopped her crying. Justin stared at Lance curiously.
"She likes you," Alexa giggled as she leaned over to look at her sister. Elizabeth giggled back, and waved her little fists in the air happily.
JC laughed. "The only girl who has turned down the notorious Justin Timberlake!" he teased playfully.
"Very funny, Chasez. Go jump out the window."
"Not before you."
"Oh, I insist."
"Ladies first, Curly."
"Screw you."
"I bet you'd wanna."
Before Justin could reply to that, Alexa gave him a curious look as she tugged on his sleeve. "Justin... what does screw mean?"
"Umm..." Justin hesitated, and looked at Chris for support. Chris shrugged helplessly.
"...It's a tool. That you use with a screwdriver."
"Oh... So how can you screw Jaaayyycceeee?"
JC bit his lip to keep a straight face. This conversation was getting very, very interesting.
"Oh wow, look at the time, Alexa!" Justin decided to change the subject. "Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it? Lets go out for ice cream now, what do you say?"
JC laughed. Today was already a disaster... what else could possibly go wrong?
The radio of the dessert stand blasted out music of a local radio station so loud, the bass literally shook the ground. The bright sun shone on the sidewalk, and the day was so perfect that it almost seemed as if it was the scene of a picture. Almost. Chris, Joey, Justin and Alexa were standing beside an ice cream stand, impatiently waiting for Alexa to choose her favorite flavor. Lance and JC decided to stay home and look after Lizzie there, since it was much more convenient. (And the fact that they were too lazy to carry her around everywhere they went, since they didn't have a baby carriage.)
"Why can't I have chocolate?" Alexa whined as she stomped her foot angrily on the ground.
"Because you're allergic to chocolate. Remember last time?" Joey told Alexa.
"But I waaant chocolate!"
"But you can't have it. Don't you like vanilla?" Justin tried to convince her.
"Nooooooo, I waaaaaaaaaaannt CHOOCCOOLAAATE!!" Alexa complained stubbornly.
The cashier stared at them strangely.
Justin sighed. "What's wrong with strawberry, or mint, or ANYTHING?" he asked.
"I WANT CHOCOLATE!"
An evil, but almost perfect idea popped into Chris's head. He grinned as he turned to Alexa, and smiled. "Ok then, you can have chocolate," he replied calmly.
Justin and Joey turned to stared at Chris.
"I... I can?" Alexa asked, unsure.
"She can?" Joey repeated. "Chris... are you okay? Is the heat getting to you?" he asked as he placed his hand on Chris's forehead to take his temperature. "You're feeling a little warm..."
"No, I'm fine Joey," Chris smiled as he swatted Joey's hand off of his forehead. "Trust me." He turned his attention back to Alexa. "You want one scoop of chocolate ice cream, or two?"
Alexa hesitated. "But Chris..." she whispered uneasily. "Aren't I... all...er...gic... to chocolate?" she asked slowly as she stumbled over the difficult word. "You don't care about me anymore?" Alexa asked as her big emerald eyes started to fill with tears.
"Yeah, but that's what you wanted, right?" Chris plastered a fake smile on his face. "One chocolate ice cream, coming up."
"I want vanilla," Alexa quickly changed her mind, suddenly suspicious of Chris's agreement.
"Are you sure?"
"Yup. Vanilla," she replied, confident of her decision.
"Positive?"
"Yup."
Chris smiled smugly and gave Joey an I-told-you-so look. The cashier handed over the ice cream, Chris paid for it, and they left to find shelter from the blistering sun.
But JC and Lance, on the other hand, weren't doing as well as their friends. Lizzie just notice the absence of her mother and father, and decided that crying was the best way to react.
"Nooo... please, just shut up!" Lance pleaded desperately as he cradled the nine-month old in his arms.
JC rolled his eyes. "This sucks. Why won't she stop crying?" he asked as he searched the bag full of baby necessities that Chris had provided them. He hoped to stumble upon a toy or something that will calm Lizzie, with no luck.
"Who knows? Why don't you ask her?" Lance replied sarcastically.
"Good idea," JC said as he took Lizzie from Lance and settled her on his lap. "Lizzie, what the hell do you want!?" JC whined.
Lizzie paused. She looked up at JC with her big chocolate eyes, and pouted her lower lip. "BAKA!" she screamed as she started crying again.
"Baka?" Lance questioned as he raised an eyebrow. "Is that Japanese?"
"It's baby-ese," JC replied. "Maybe she's hungry or something?"
Lance shook his head. "Can't be. I just fed her a few minutes ago."
JC had to bite his lip to keep a straight face. The mental picture of Daddy Lance bottle-feeding a little baby was just a little too much. He cleared his throat and wiped the grin off his face.
"Maybe she's bored," Lance suggested. JC sighed, and lifted Lizzie up by her arms. "Please, just stop crying!" he pleaded.
Lizzie sniffled, and eased her cries. In fact, she stopped crying completely... JC eyed her curiously as he placed her back in his lap, facing him. He looked back up and Lance.
"I didn't think it'll work-" he started, but was cut off by a tiny cry from Lizzie. But before JC could look down to see what went wrong, Lizzie had thrown up all over JC's lap. Tiny little chunks of baby food mixed with white milky liquid splattered on to his shirt and pants.
"ACK!" JC screamed as he handed Lizzie over to Lance, who was laughing hysterically. "You little monster!"
Lizzie giggled as she pointed at JC. "Monst-a!" she repeated, and burst out in a fit of giggles again.
JC sighed. "I'm going to take a shower," he told Lance as he glared evilly at Lizzie.
"Monst-a!" she said again.
Lance laughed. "Wow, she really knows how to describe you!"
"Shut up, PooFoo," JC shot back.
"Go take a shower. You smell like shit," Lance laughed.
"Shit!" Lizzie exclaimed.
Lance laughed and covered Lizzie's mouth. "You didn't hear that, Lizzie."
Lizzie tried to babble something between Lance's fingers, but it came out in muffled blurbs. JC frowned at Lance. "I advise you to watch your language," he warned as he stormed off to the shower.
"I advise you to watch your language," Lance mimicked quietly. He sighed to himself as he placed Lizzie on the ground, and let her sit quietly. Lizzie looked back up at Lance, with her big innocent eyes.
"Monst-a!" she smiled as she turned her attention to a set of car keys on the table.
Lance chuckled softly to himself. "I wonder how the other guys are doing?" he thought as he sat back, and watched Lizzie toss the car keys in awe as they clattered against each other.
Lance wrinkled his nose and frowned... something was wrong. What was that smell? he thought to himself as he turned to the culprit. Lizzie smiled at him.
"Awww.. Lizzie, how could you!?" Lance scolded her as he picked her up and headed towards the washroom.
"I wonder how JC and Lance are doing?" Justin asked as he sat back in the park bench, and stretched.
"Who knows. Then again, who cares," Joey said as he eyed the three ladies sitting across from them, chattering endlessly. One of them sensed his gaze, and turned to see who he was. Joey flashed his best smile, and winked. She turned back to her friends, and giggled.
"Joey, Joey, Joey," Chris hung his head in shame. "What would Kristina say about this?"
"Kristina?" Justin questioned. "What about Dayna!"
Joey shrugged. "There's nothing wrong with an occasional wink or a smile," he reassured his friends.
"Or an occasional back rub, or maybe a kiss or two or ten..." Chris started.
Justin laughed. "Or the occasional one night stand... excuse me, did I say occasional?"
"More like frequent," Chris added.
"Frequent? More like daily! Or in your case, nightly!" Justin exclaimed.
Joey smacked Justin on the back of his head. "Shut up, you little-"
He was interrupted by the sound of bass pumping from a car that just pulled into the parking lot, near the park. The tune of Sisqo's Thong Song blasted out from the speakers full blast.
'Let me seee that thooooooong... baby make your booty go dun dun dun...'
Justin and Chris exchanged glances, and burst out laughing. What great timing, Chris thought to himself as he watched Alexa turned away from the little sand castle she was attempting to build with her teddy bear. She stared at the car that was blasting the music, and listened to the song thoughtfully. Then, she turned and stared at Joey. "Joey, I have a question to ask you."
Chris knew this line all too well.
"Ask away," he replied, unaware of the mess he was getting himself into.
"What's a thong?"
Joey fell silent. He looked at Justin for support, but he just shrugged.
Chris smiled. "Yeah, Joey. What IS a thong?" he asked, trying to resist the temptation to laugh like a maniac.
"Umm..." Joey stuttered. He looked up, and sought the perfect distraction, but there weren't any. "It's a shoe, Alexa. It's a shoe," he managed to say.
Justin applauded Joey for his reply. "Very good, Superman."
Joey wiped an invisible bead of sweat away from his forehead, and took a bow. "Thank you, thank you."
Alexa wasn't satisfied with his answer though. She wrinkled her nose and frowned, but was soon distracted by a little butterfly fluttering gracefully by her. She watched it curiously as it landed straight on the nose of the teddy bear Chris had given to her. She smiled she watched it crawl onto the teddy bear's head, and flap its wings slowly. Alexa watched it for a moment, but it got up and started flying away.
She looked back up at her guardians, but they were too deep into their own conversation to notice. So, being the independent child she is, Alexa stood up, brushed the sand off her clothing, grabbed her bear, and chased after the fluttering butterfly.
The insect flew across the park, unaware of its follower. Alexa jumped up and down and attempted to catch the little butterfly, but it was too quick for her tiny hands. She frowned, and turned back to look for her babysitters, but they were gone. Alexa shrugged, and continued her journey.
"We should be heading home now, or JC will throw a shit fit," Justin decided as he stood up from the bench.
"Good idea. Let's go, Alexa," Chris said as he glanced at the sandbox nearby, but it was deserted. "Alexa?" he repeated as he scanned his surroundings for the child, but she was nowhere to be found.
By now, Joey and Justin had realized the situation they were in, too. "Not again," Justin sighed. "Didn't this happen before?" he asked as he searched the background for Alexa.
"Yeah, but last time we were mobbed by fans-" Joey replied, but was cut off suddenly by a deafening shriek of a teenage girl.
"You spoke too soon, my friend," Chris mumbled as he turned around to face a pimply-faced prepubescent fan. He plastered a happy-go-lucky smile on his face as the fan leapt towards him and clung on to him like Velcro.
"NSYNC! I LOVE YOU GUYS!" she screamed as she squeezed Chris until he felt like he couldn't breathe anymore. Apparently, a group of fans heard the excited scream of a teenybopper, and decided to see what was all the commotion was all about. As soon as Justin looked up, he was immediately recognized by his fans. His face wasn't that hard to recognize, the curly blonde locks gave him away.
"JUSTIN!! WILL YOU MARRY ME?" one of them shouted as she bounced up and down to catch a glimpse of her favorite singer. Justin gave her a confused look, and desperately searched for a way out. He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a crowd of shrieks and screams of their fans. A whole mob of girls was heading towards them, rushing to meet the pop stars.
"OH my god, not again," Justin sighed as he grabbed Joey's arm. "I say we run."
"Ditto," Chris replied as he pried himself loose from his fan's grip. "Sorry, but we gotta jet. Stay Nsync!" he smiled sweetly as he took off in a random direction, followed by Justin and a confused Joey. But unfortunately, they were followed by their ever-so-faithful fans.
"Why don't they just go home? Are they too good for their home?" Justin panted as he ran as fast as his legs could take him.
"Look!" Chris pointed at the tiny figure ahead of them, ignoring Justin's question. He squinted to examine the object clearer- it was a little kid. It wasn't just any little kid ahead of them: it was Alexa.
"YES!" Chris rejoiced as he pranced with joy. "ALEXA!" he screamed as he approached the child. Alexa looked up to see who was calling her, and her face lit up as soon as she saw Chris. She waved happily at him.
Joey lifted Alexa from the ground and continued running. "Sorry kid, no time to stick around."
Alexa's face fell. "What about Teddy?!" she screamed as she pointed at the teddy bear, lying on the ground.
"I'll buy you another one! Hell, I'll buy you fifty!" Justin shouted as he fell behind the others.
"Justin! Hurry up!" Chris shouted as he ran.
Justin slowed his pace. "Go on without me!" he shouted as he slowed down to a mere jog. The screaming fans were quickly catching up with the trio.
"Justin! No, come on!" Chris pleaded. He realized how strange this situation was now.
"You owe me big time, Kirkpatrick," he screamed back as Justin stopped completely, and turned around to face his fans.
Chris didn't bother to turn around to see Justin being surrounded by the crowd of teenyboppers. He secretly wished his friend good luck, and approached Joey's BMW. Joey and Alexa were already inside, starting the motor. Chris hopped into the car, and groaned.
"He was so brave... he gave his life to save ours," he sighed as he wiped away an imaginary tear.
"He'll survive," Joey reassured him as they drove off. "Let's hope he has enough money to call a cab back home."
"That was fun. Let's do that again!" Alexa said happily.
"NO!" Joey and Chris replied at the same time.
"Wake up, Lance," JC said as he shook him up. Lance groaned as he opened his eyes lazily.
"What?" he asked as he yawned.
"Where's Elizabeth?" JC demanded.
Lance hesitated. He glanced at the ground in front of him where he had placed her after he changed her diaper, but she wasn't there. She was gone.
"Oh my god..." Lance let his head sink back on the couch. "She's gone..."
"No duh... Get up, Poof. You have to help me find her, before Chris comes back." JC commanded as he pulled Lance from the couch.
"But where the hell could a little baby crawl?" Lance scratched his head.
"Everywhere. You go upstairs, I'll look downstairs. She couldn't have gotten THAT far," JC replied as he darted towards the kitchen, searching for Lizzie.
Lance sighed. How come every time we end up babysitting, we lose the kid somehow? He thought to himself as he headed for the stairs to search for the missing baby.
Pretty soon, the whole house was turned upside down in search of Lizzie, but she was nowhere to be found. It was getting late, and they still hadn't found the little baby. Lance groaned as he approached Justin's room. It was a mess. Lance tossed loose articles of clothing aside to see if she was hiding underneath any of them, with no luck. He shook his head in shame as he headed towards the closet to see if Lizzie ended up hiding inside the tiny walk in closet.
"Lizzie, where the hell are you?" he sighed as he opened the door. A pile of clothes fell before his feet instead, no baby inside. Lance stepped away from the mess he had created when he opened the closet door, and suddenly, and idea popped into his head.
"What if..." he started to think out loud. He rushed to the laundry room, the only room he had decided to skip, thinking that there was no way that Lizzie could be interested in a room as boring as the laundry room. He rummaged around the cupboards and any other place that she could fit in, but Lizzie wasn't there. Finally, Lance decided to give up. He hung his head shamefully as he slowly dragged his feet out of the room, but not before kicking the laundry basket in disappointment.
A little muffled cry was heard. Lance perked up, and scanned the room for the source of the cry, but there was nothing there. He looked down at the laundry basket, and strangely, the clothes started shuffling.
Quickly, he knelt down beside the basket and tossed aside the top layer of clothes, revealing a little baby, sleeping soundly. Lance smiled as he watched Lizzie curl up against Joey's sweatshirt.
"You little brat... you were here all along, weren't you?" he asked as he picked her up from the laundry. Lizzie snored in reply.
The slam of the door was heard as Lance stepped out of the laundry room. He looked up to see a tired Chris storm in, followed by Joey and Alexa.
"Where's Justin?" Lance asked curiously.
"He was... mobbed," Joey replied sadly. "We got away and he's still probably back there."
"Sucker..." Lance muttered under his breath.
"What was that?" Justin asked as he stepped into the house, exhausted and out of breath.
"Nothing," Lance replied quickly. "What happened? I thought you were mobbed."
Justin sighed. "I was. I was lucky to make it out alive... I called a cab home."
Chris's face lit up as he rushed to Justin's side and jumped into his arms. Surprised, Justin gave him an awkward look. "Oh Justy, you're my hero... will you marry me?" he asked as he mimicked the dreamy look his fans give him.
Justin let go and dropped Chris on the floor with a loud thud. "Damn you," Justin glared at him.
JC's voice was heard from the kitchen. "What was that, Justin?" he challenged.
"Darn you."
"Better."
Justin turned back to Chris and pointed an accusing finger at him. "Darn you... Darn you to heck," he threatened as he angrily stomped off to his room.
Chris sighed and got back up. "Ouch," he said as he rubbed his rear. "I'd hate for him to be my knight in shining armor."
JC appeared from the kitchen and approached Lance. He smacked him on the back of the head as he gave him an evil look. "You found Lizzie?! Why didn't you tell me?" he asked.
"I was going to... but then Chris came in," Lance replied as he rubbed the back of his head painfully.
"You lost ELIZABETH?" Chris shouted.
"NO, we found her," Lance said quickly as he pointed at the sleeping baby in his arms. Lizzie yawned, and opened her big eyes to examine her surroundings. She giggled softly as she caught sight of JC.
"Monst-a!" she said as she smiled and pointed at him.
Chris ignored Lizzie and continued his argument. "But you DID loose her."
"But we found her," Lance added.
"But you lost... oh, never mind," Chris waved his hand in the air mindlessly.
Just then, new voice was heard from behind. "Is this a private party or can anyone join?" Chris recognized the voice immediately... it was Katherine. He spun around to greet his friend.
"Katherine... uhh... we weren't expecting you," he said.
"Of course you weren't. The door was open, so I let myself in," she smiled sweetly. Alexa heard the sound of her mom's voice, and ran towards them as fast as she could.
"MOOOOOOMMY!" she shrieked as she flung her arms around her mother.
"Hey, Alexa. How was your day with Chris and his friends?"
"It was fuuuuuuun. We should come here more, mommy!!" Alexa giggled.
Over my dead body, Lance thought to himself as he handed Lizzie, who was now awake, over to her mother.
"I hope they were no trouble," Katherine asked.
"Oh no, not at all," JC lied.
"Bye, Lizzie. Bye, Alexa," Joey said, almost a little too happily.
Lizzie giggled. "ByByBy!" she repeated gleefully.
"Hey, she's singing our song!" Chris shouted.
"Keep in touch," Katherine said as she walked off.
JC shut the door, and sighed. "I'm going to bed. Anyone tries to wake me up will suffer the consequences," he declared as he stormed upstairs. He leaped on to his bed and smiled as he felt his body sink into the mattress. He closed his eyes, and heard nothing but the cool breeze blow by the window.
"Monster!" a whispered voice was heard.
"Shut up, Lance."
"Sorry. Good night."
"Good night."
