Why (some) people who want Willow to end up with Xander are so antagonistic towards me and my desire that Xander end up with Buffy?
-- I can sympathize and understand where you are coming from. What I don't get is why you do not or can not see where I am coming from. Can't you see that Willow's
'longing' for Xander parallels Xander's 'longing' for Buffy? The only difference is that you
are taking the woman's perspective and I the man's?
Why (some) people totally dismiss what Angel/Angelus has done and how they can say that Xander's lie is so much more horrible?
-- Despite the risk of sounding like a commentary on today's society. Dismissing Angel/Angelus' actions is an example of what is wrong with today's society. They always find excuses for the bad things that people do. They never place the responsibility on anyone. It was either 'TV made me do it', 'my parents abused me', etc, etc. I am not making light of these reasons, but responsibility has to be placed somewhere. The 'buck' has to stop somewhere. At the very least, people who commit crimes but were deemed unfit to stand trial are sent to an institution to keep them out of harm's way. Angel needs to be held responsible for what he or Angelus has done.
-- Comparing Xander's lie to Angel/Angelus' crimes is absurd. If after 2 seasons the only bad thing that Xander has done is that lie, then he is a much better person than any of us. The reasons behind Xander's lie is so ambigious. I'm sure he lied to her partly out of jealousy. Just as I'm sure he lied to protect her. If Buffy wasn't fighting as hard as she could, Angelus might have killed her. He might have also lied because he felt Angel/Angelus needs to pay for what he has done. So, give me a break. I'd rather have someone lie to me for ambigious reasons than for someone to try and kill my parents & friends. Regardless of the reasoning behind it.
