Okay here is my exsplanation for exactly why at the most fundamental leval Angel and Buffy will not really work out - bear with me on this:
- Lets not forget that yes while Angel is a "good" vampire he's a sterotypical good vampire in that he must remain entirely self absorbed to remain sane. His brooding and release of drucilla proves that. Looking at other Good vampires like Nick knight and to a far lesser extent Louie, they are constay needing thier friends to revalidate them-Angel could never care about Buffy as much as he HAS to about himself.
- Angel is dead and an unnatural being; this is often overlooked but Angel is not a vampire (a creature that has a purpose even if to do evil) nor is he human (a lifegiving sustaining being). He cannot have children, he cannot love without SEVERE reprocussions (blood lust, losing soul ect). He is a man whose entire life is made to suffer. Buffy should not get together with a being who while is doing good cannot give back anything because he was not made to.
- Angel is disspasionate and cold; Angel while being good is not in any way as good as a normal human-he is half demon and half regular guy. In Prophecy Girl he was ready and willing to move on after Buffy's death and very indeffirent to her death when he should have been fighting for his life. He is ready to die when Buffy attacked him because happiness is not his nature.
- Angelus is there and he always will be waiting to emerge: I dont care what you say-he can take over Angel when he's careless he nearly bit Buffy when they first kissed, he destroyed Eylegon when they fought because he's one viscious vamp, and I dont think he can be counted out just yet. He lusts after Buffy and Is contantly tempting Angel to worse evil.
- He's taking advantage of a little girl: No offense but Angel is 200 something and Buffy's an imature romantic-she has a right to be shes seventeen. He should not be pursuing a relationship with someone who is so vunerbale to his allure. The man has Drucilla, Darla, ect and enough exsperience I think to know better.
- This relationship has barriers: They can never go out together in the sun, never go to church together, never have a evening of love, never have a familly, never grow old together ect.
- A question-one that I think NO ONE has addressed but gets to the root of the problem. Angel is cured of his wickedness curse and they destroy Angelus....hes human. What then? Is Angel nearly as attractive?! I dont think so, hes just a guy with some life exsperience and no reason to be pathetic. Personally I think Xander could give him a far greater run.
- Angel tends to bring the party with him-in other words his past is a constant danger for Buffy with the gypsys, Drucilla, Spike, Darla, Elygon, Whister ect in other words-he's big trouble that the Slayer should avoid.
- Angel now scares Buffy's friends and rightly so. Giles knows Angelus killed Ms. Calender and he did love her, plus her familly if any are alive no doubt want him. Willow and Xander ect know that Angel is bad news and frankly oddly enough Cordellias the only one who has no reason to hate him.
- Xander is much better, nuff said

Okay I couldnt resist posting a sequel to my arguement as to why Angel was bad for Buffy with a list of reasons why Xander is so much better for her, I dont want to just Angel-bash (though he
deserves it) and hope the owner doesnt mind.
Top Ten Reasons Xander would be better for Buffy than Angel (The longer but more accurate title)
- Xander has a wonderful sense of humor and a strong sense of how to keep Buffy from falling into the loathsome pit of brooding-Im going to die young and vampiricky. Buffy has survived this long because of her ability not to be too serious.
- Xander has a never give up-even when there IS no hope style attitude. Its this attitude that saved Buffy's life in Prophecy Girl, allowed him to give much needed moral support. He wont give up on buffy until its over. IN "Ted" he refused to believe Buffy was a murderer and didnt rest until he proved Ted was evil. Xandre is the driving soul of the Slayettes.
- Xander is used to dating weird women-I thought I had to mention that he has dated a praying mantis, a Alpine mummy, Cordellia and other creatures of the night.
- Xander a friend first and foremost, he understands Buffy and is nice to her. Shares her interests and could be just a cool with hanging out with her at the mall and going to the movies as making out and destroying Vampires (Angels ONLY interests).
- Xander really cant get put in MORE Danger than he already is: For crying out loud he's been a fish and hyenna already. Not to mention has faced countles vampires without breathing hard already. Buffy would never have to worry about putting him at risk or him wigging out.
- Xander is a human being: This may seem like a rather redundant statment but it is actually VERY profound. He has the same fears, concerns, lusts, and such of a guy Buffys age. Plus in the paradoxal universe that Buffy and Xander get serious(even I dont see that happening any time soon) they could marry grow old together, have kids.
- Xander is chivalrous and a good man: Okay lets immeditaly comment on Bewitched and other episodes; Bewitched Xander didnt take advantage of his friends and he defends Buffy to the last (okay question guys, How many of us admired the HECK out of X when he stood up to Larry for Buff. Before he got tossed around I mean).
- Xander is courageous too; Angel is a vampire with frankly nothing to live for. Xander rushed head long against an army of cultists in Reptile Boy, faced all these other weirdos and such FOR Buffy. He stood up to Angel in the hospital KNOWING the man could kill him with batting an eyelash. BUT HE DID IT.
- Sure hes immature but the man shows GREAT MATURITY when the need arises. Xander has done A INCREDIBLE AMOUNT of STUPID THINGS but lets be blunt he also showed the visible pain lying to Buffy had on him when he knew Angelus was going to destroy the world, he saved the childrens life in "Killed by Death" and infiltrated these many a places for her.
- Xander loves Buffy; theres no way I can NOT stress this enough, sure everyone says he lusts after her but the man has done more or less all the above things because of HER. The heartbreaking scene in "Killed by Death" where he stayed up all night without food and his pain at the revelation that Angel had been sleeping with her in the same ep. He disliked Angel the entire time because in his heart i cannot see him living without her.
Thats my opinions. I dare anyone really to top ten argue with them and hope you all see some merit in my opinion. Comments would truly be appreciated.
