Some of you want Xander to end up with Willow. If Buffy wasn't in the picture, then I'd root for Willow too. What it basically comes down to for me is that I would like to see Xander end up with "the girl of his dreams". If that is Willow, then more power to it. At this point, I still believe that that person is Buffy.

    With that being said, why X&W shouldn't get togehter is a little more of a complicated debate. I believe that Willow & Xander's situation somewhat parallels Xander & Buffy's. Both involves unrequited love. Both, to some extent, involve people wanting something that they can't have. So, who do you root for?

    People who say that Xander & Buffy are such great friends and should remain that way, should cringe at the prospect of Xander & Willow as a couple. They've been friends since they were babies! They probably even took baths together. They are WAY past platonic! They are super-platonic. :)

    I believe that after a certain amount of time, friends can only be friends. Once you get past a certain point, it's hard to start a more physical/sexual/romantic relationship without ruining the friendship. That's basically what happened when X&W had their affair. I don't believe that X&B fall into this category. They still have that sexual tension, at least Xander does. Whenever Xander hugs Buffy, she wonders if he is just trying to cop a feel. X&B started out with the sexual tension and it has been there ever since. One way or another this tension has to be released.

Willow's Feelings:

    Some people have said that Buffy shouldn't end up with Xander because Willow would get hurt. This is a very good point. First of all, for this to even happen would require Buffy to want to get together with Xander. Let's assume that Buffy does want to get together with Xander. I know she doesn't, but if we don't make this assumption then there's no point in debating any further.

    From Buffy or Xander's standpoint, they would probably stay away from each other instead of risking their friendship with Willow. It would be a very awkward situation whenever all of three of them are together. Kind of like how X&W acted in front of Oz while they were having an "affair". They would probably be extra careful not to do anything that would upset Willow. Needless to say this would put a wrench into the group's relationship.

    Don't get me wrong, I would sympathize with Willow. However, wouldn't it be a little selfish of Willow to stand in the way of her two best friend's happiness? Would Willow want that? The ultimate testament of Willow really caring about her friends would be for her to let them be together if they wanted to. Xander swallowed his pride when he went to Angel for help in the first season's finale. Why can't Willow? It's not as if Willow doesn't know of Xander's feelings towards Buffy. It won't be as much a shock to her as Xander & Cordelia getting together was.

    Then there's Oz's feelings? Is it fair to Oz that Willow still has strong enough feelings for Xander that she can't let go? If Willow really is dedicated to Oz as she says she is, then who Xander sees shouldn't be an issue.

Xander & Cordelia:

    I don't know where this relationship is going if anywhere. I never felt this to be what Xander really wanted. I don't like their love/hate relationship. I still believe that it was Xander's hormones not his heart that led him to this relationship. To those who fear that this is the case with Buffy, check Xander and his Feelings.

Final Thoughts

    As long as Xander has some feelings for Buffy, I will always root for him to get her. If Xander decides to move on, then I'll relent. Well, maybe. To those who say that Xander should end up with Willow, I have one question. If Willow wasn't in the picture, would you want Buffy to end up with Xander or Angel?
