Humanities is the study of people - their ideas, their history, their literature, their artifacts, and their values including: ethics; social, political, and economic history, literature, language and linguistics, philosophy, theory, criticism, and history of art and architecture, archaeology and anthropology, jurisprudence or the history of the law comparative religion, and social sciences employing historical or philosophical approaches. History is the account of facts respecting nations or states; a narrative of events in the order in which they happened with their causes and effects. Art involves a degree of human involvement, through manual skills or thought, as with the word "artificial? meaning made by humans instead of by nature. Literature is humanity thinking aloud, communicating its experience of all that is, holding a great continuous discussion throughout the ages and across the world. 'Literature' refers to a shifting category of texts defined by a complex combination of factors including textual features and value-judgments. The category of writing that we call literature is not self-evident but is produced by the interaction of various social institutions. Society is a system, composed of many parts, which we call members, and which are intelligent systems or societies themselves. Since the basic building block of societies is the intelligent system, it has all the properties of an intelligent system. It may have other properties, since it is composed of many intelligent systems. Its objectives are the common objectives of its members. The life span of its members is appreciably shorter than that of the society or sub society to which they belong. Culture is variously defined as a worldwide striving toward "civilization" through the accumulation of practices and beliefs; a unique pattern of beliefs that shapes personalities in each society; a local system of ideas and practices that are functionally integrated; an unconscious structure that generates ideas and behavior; a system of shared symbols that come into play in social interactions; and a system by which people adapt to their environment. Culture is the non genetic or learned ways in which humans adapt. The learning and sharing involved in culture means that it can be equated with tradition and examined as history as well as adaptation. The interrelatedness or wholeness of culture also means that anthropology may make use of methods from the humanities to illustrate this major concept. Socio Economics is relating to, or involving a combination of social and economic factors. Social is relating to human society, the interaction of the individual and the group, or the welfare of human beings as members of society. Economics is a social science concerned chiefly with description and analysis of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Film is a motion picture produced as an artistic effort. Together all of the words create the meaning of the word humanities today. Because humanities is the study of people, we can?t study the people with out the history. History is the account of facts and narratives of them. Art is things made by humans which is most of the time a big part of history. There are a lot of records kept about art forms of the past and they are good ways of finding out what the lifestyles and modern inventions where available to the people in past history. Without literature it would be impossible to account all the history that we have available to us today. It is also sometimes know as humanity thinking aloud. Societies are key to humanity, they are formed by members that are alike in more than one way. They set the stage for those to follow. Culture is the non genetic, or learned ways in which humans adapt. By looking into what humanities are all about we are probably going to learn about different cultures and how they adapt. Socio Economics is how the people survived and how they interacted and made exchanges between themselves. Film is an artistic way of producing a motion picture of how historical people survived and lived. Together with all of these aspects it makes us able to better learn about humanities. |
