“Suspect in vicinity.” Agent Johnson heard the SWAT team captain say this through his earpiece. “Approach with extreme caution.” Two SWAT officers moved toward the motel door with a portable battering ram. Two other SWAT officers covered them with assault rifles. Agent Johnson knew there were fourteen other SWAT members covering all possible exits and another eight ready to raid the room. The two officers battered the door down in one hit, and the waiting SWAT officers moved swiftly into the room, guns raised. Agents Johnson, Andy, and Bionic were right behind the officers. Agents Andy and Bionic wore their black turtlenecks and Kevlar armor, and Johnson wore his black suit and tie. As always. As they entered the room, Johnson glimpsed a single seated man right in front of them. The man wore no shirt and was drenched in blood. The agent thought he recognized the face as that of Arch Nemesis Zero-Two-Two. “Stand up and put your arms behind your head!” ordered the front SWAT member. “Now!” The man slowly stood up, facing the officers. He took one step forward. “Don’t move!” the officer shouted, his rifle trained on the ripped man. The man took another step, slowly. “Move again and we’ll fire! Now, put your hands behind your –” The man screamed a warcry and charged the officer. Before the SWAT member could react, the shirtless man punched him square in his chest. Even though the officer was wearing body armor, he flew back a foot and fell to the ground. The other members of the team were quick to react. They opened fire on the man, sending streams of shots toward the felon. The felon dodged every bullet by jumping at another officer in a fraction of a second. The shirtless felon grabbed the officer’s firing rifle, pulled it out of the officer’s hands, and jabbed the officer in the face with the gun’s butt. Meanwhile, the SWAT team and agent Bionic ceased fire and lunged at the felon. Agent Andy called Frink for backup, and Johnson tried to aim his sidearm at the felon without hitting any of the officers. The officers with riot shields tried to bash the felon with them, but the quick man jumped out of the way at the last second. This caused the officers to accidentally bash the officer whose gun was taken. The felon then kicked and punched another nearby officer and ran towards the exit. Agent Johnson saw this opportunity and opened fire. He managed to hit the felon twice, but it did not seem to stop the shirtless man. Behind him, Agent Bionic was quickly catching up. Bionic soon tried to leap on the back of the shirtless man, attempting to tackle him. The felon stopped, spun around, and punched Agent Bionic, who was in midair at the time of the blow. This sent Bionic flying back into the crowd of running officers. While the rest of the team was down, Johnson and Andy fired on the felon. This time, the man was able to dodge all shots and make it out the door of the room. Little did he know that there were two SWAT members with automatic rifles waiting outside for him. Those officers opened fire as soon as the felon emerged into the hallway. The shirtless man was hit a few times, but was able to run into one of the two officers and bash him with the gun butt. The beaten man fell to the ground. The other officer continued to fire until the felon jumped at the wall, bounced off of it, and air-kicked the man. The officer collapsed to the ground and the felon dashed down the hall. Meanwhile, Agent Johnson stepped out of the room into the hall and fired his recently reloaded Berreta at the running man. None hit their mark, but far down the hall, the man suddenly seemed to pulsate and grow. His muscles bulged, and some of his veins became visible from a distance. The man-beast stopped running and turned to his side . He ran straight into and through the wall, tearing a large hole into it. Several officers came out of the room at this time, and Johnson could see more SWAT team members coming from the opposite end of the hall. The agent tried to tell the officers that the man ran through the wall, but they doubted him. The agent opted to give up and pursued the man himself. When Johnson reached the gaping hole, he looked out across the parking lot and could see the man-beast jumping over a fence into a nearby yard. After the creature was out of sight, squad cars seemed to pull up from every direction. Agent Andy and some SWAT team members walked up behind Johnson and peered out of the hole in the wall. None could see the man-beast any more. It looked like the suspect was lost. *** “The report does not make sense,” Agent Johnson stated. “The suspect was injured by multiple bullets yet was unhindered. He was able to move as agilely as he was before being shot.” Frink shrugged his shoulders. He thought it was possible, but Agent Johnson didn’t. “The report also says that the suspect used some sort of sonic-pulse weapon to blast a hole into the wall. That would explain why it did not leave any charred remains. Even so, we descried no weapon of any sort on the suspect upon first encountering him.” “Maybe he had one planted. You said he stopped right in front of that wall. He may have picked something up then and there,” Frink suggested. “You know how headquarters described Zero-Two-Two’s tactics.” It turned out that the suspect was Arch Nemesis Zero-Two-Two after all. He had just slain another victim when the agents and SWAT team barged in to arrest him on a tipoff. “He did not search for anything nor did he pick up any item as he was preoccupied with transforming.” Agent Johnson emphasized the final word. “Finally, the report does not take into account my report of the suspect’s escape method nor does it include any of the officer’s testimonies that may have saw it when they were in the parking lot.” “At least the report provides a logical and plausible explanation. Unlike your report.” Frink said. He was ready to return to the team’s apartment. He didn’t want to listen to Agent Johnson in the team’s rented office all night long. “It was still unnecessary of headquarters to test me for narcotics,” remarked Agent Johnson. Frink smiled at that. “Well, I must return to the apartment. And I want to take the car tonight, so you’ll have to come with me unless you want to walk.” “Agent Frink, you don’t have a driving license. You will have to come with me unless you wish to walk.” And with that, Special Agent Mark Johnson turned off his desklamp and, along with Frink, walked out the door to go home after an adventurous mystery.
