Agent Andy ran in through the rearmost entrance, next to the projector room. He had to carefully get to the team’s supplies in the center of the room. As he looked toward the front, he saw that the demon had two of the Knives in his hand. The demon looked at Andy and seemed to pulsate and grow. Andy jumped below a desk for cover. As he did this, Agent Johnson came in through the frontmost entrance, gun firing persistently at the demon. The demon turned his attention to the agent with the gun. “You’re pretty annoying for an agent of the corrupt, you know that?” said the demon in a slight accent. He then jumped toward Johnson. Andy focused. He raced toward the center of the room, jumping over a desk or two. Once there, he rummaged through his attache case and pulled out a pocket Bible. As he stood up, he noticed a man cowering behind some crates in the front of the room. Johnson had dodged the demon, but he was still losing. He couldn’t deflect such powerful blows, and the demonic man seemed invincible. Agent Andy wanted to go help him, but he had to disable the demon with the Word of God first. He began to turn, but he spotted the cowering man beckoning him. Andy shook his head and jumped over a few desks to get to the man. Up close, Andy realized the frightened man to be the archaeologist. “Here,” the owl-eyed male said, “Take this sword and kill that thing. It was found in the old rectory building of the same monastery. Texts say it’s blessed. Just use.” He shoved a sheathed sword into Andy’s hands. Andy stood up, yelled for Johnson, and tossed the agent the sword. Andy then crouched down, picked up the Bible, and headed for the rear exit. *** Johnson caught the sword and pulled it out of its scabbard. He ran at the demon, a cold metal sword in one hand and its silver scabbard in the other. The demon charged Johnson as well He plunged the scabbard into the demon man’s head, deftly dodging the demon’s strikes. Johnson then spun around and hacked at the injured demon with the sword. Once the demon retreated a little, Johnson ran for the table. He pulled two of the Knives of Oppression out of their slots and yelled for Andy, who was still running toward the exit. Andy turned back and saw Johnson tossing the Knives a great distance towards him. Andy instinctively began to juggle the pocket Bible in his hands with the knives Johnson threw him. Once Andy was certain he had a good enough balance of everything, he slowly walked backwards towards the exit of the room. *** Now Johnson just had to deal with the two Knives the demon took. Unfortunately for him, the demon had regained his ground while Johnson was tossing the Knives. The crazed man lunged for Johnson. A dark glow seemed to emanate from him, and he impacted the agent with immense force. Johnson flew into the wall, leaving a slight indent. Johnson also seemed to be electrically damaged somehow, as dark sparks flew from the metallic bits of his outfits. The demon laughed in victory as he walked toward Johnson to finish him. At that moment, the loudspeaker system blared on with a screech. Then Frink’s voice came over the intercom. “Revod’neb! I command thee to halt and return to the pits of Hell!” The demon stopped at the sound of his name. Then he grimaced and said, “You are no priest! You have no power!” Then came Agent Andy’s voice reading a passage from the Bible. The demon froze, then glanced around to see where the speakers were. Pain then began to rack his body. He spotted figures moving in the projection room and literally flew to it. He went through the glass of the small room and landed in front of Andy, Frink, and a priest. The old priest looked at the demon. He merely had to say the demon’s name and it was immobilized. The old man began reciting an exorcism immediately. *** Andy smiled. It was pure luck that Johnston Hall happened to be adjacent to the Marquette Campus Church. The church had recently seen much use, and a priest was permanently stationed there now. Andy merely had to bring the man over. The demon began to dwindle in size and appearance. Soon, he began to be blown away as if he were ashes. Revod’neb screamed as he disintegrated into nothingness. *** Bureau 13's Research and Development Center was more than happy to relieve the archaeologist of the set of knives, and the archaeologist was more than happy to keep quiet about the whole incident. In fact, he would be happy to help out the Bureau and become a contact. As for Johnston Hall, the Bureau paid for its lowest level to be remodeled. The witnesses of the event and the families of the three main casualties were told that a PHP addict had used machinery to commit three accounts of random murder to obtain the Knives. Nothing supernatural had occurred, according to official reports. Agent Johnson was admitted to the hospital for his bone to be set, but the dark energy had drained him. Much to his disdain, the only ways to undo this damage was to either have a ritual involving priests and holy items or have a “positive energy” meditative ritual involving mandalas and New Age ideas. He opted for the ritual because the meditation would force him to wear something besides a black suit and tie. Home |
