A Rant on the Axial Orientation of the Conspiratorial/Supernatural Factions

By Rudiment the Sage (Yes, There Are Still Sages in the Modern World)

With all of these secretive societies and groupings about in this world, one might lose prospect of what’s fundamentally right and what’s fundamentally wrong.

Well, I can’t define that for you. Defining your boundaries, morals, and principles is something you must do alone. Religion, law, and personality are all factors in your views, and I don’t control any of them. In simpler terms, I can’t really help you there.

Now, I have some views of my own (and they’ll inevitably affect this essay), but I won’t put forth any of them except as examples.

As for other variables encountered in this essay: What is Life? What is Death? What is Love? Well, I’m not going to bore anyone with those philosophical debates. I’ll leave those to be defined by angsty teens that think they’re being deep, lawyers, and Haddaway (respectively).

On to the questions, then.

Firstly: which is good, the supernatural or the mortal conspiracy?

You’d have to be stupid to ask such an unanswerable question. To try and prove my point, here’s an example.

Let’s take something as fundamentally wrong as murder. Let’s use the version of the word used in law: the premeditated killing of one person (or, in our case, being) by another person (once again, broaden this term to ‘being’). But what about the afterlife and the deities, you ask? Well, I said I wasn’t going to define death. So define it yourself.

Instantly, many supernatural* creatures become evil. For example, the vampires would be considered in the wrong for draining a mortal of his or her blood to the point of death when they could rob a blood bank. But vampires have been draining mortals for centuries, and won’t change now. What real reason do they have for changing to the ‘light side?’

Paranormal** creatures become evil as well. Things like extraterrestrials abduct humans and other creatures for tests. The tests can cause the death of the abductees. Murder in the name of science is still murder.

Occult*** beings can be considered evil as well under this maxim. Excluding the demons and devils that simply wish to kill and destroy, Angelic and divine beings cause ‘holy’ wars and even kill ‘evil’ creatures quite often themselves. Apparently, the sacrifice of the malignant is needed for the greater good.

But this hardly makes the mortal conspirators saints. If murder is considered bad, then the Majestic Twelve is incredibly evil. They have ‘murdered’ countless supernatural creatures as well as humans in their genocide of all-things-beyond-their-understanding.

But MJ 12 isn’t the only heinous mortal group out there. The Illuminati and even the Freemasons have dispatched threats throughout the centuries. They too have battled against the supernatural with lethality.

Then who, you ask, is good? The answer is no one group is all good. They all have their ups and downs. They’ll try and make you see them in only a positive light, but no one’s perfect.

Of course, whether you’re attracted to their goodness or their evilness (or even both) is up to you.

The logical follow-up question would be, ‘Who’s the lesser of the evils?”

Once again, a stupid question. An enormous (and impossible) examination of every detail of every group’s history would reveal that they are all about balanced in terms of good and evil (in whatever way one might define it). You have to choose what appeals to you (or you don’t have to choose at all).

If you’ve a stick up your arse, you might say, “But I’m trying to be all good. What do I do?”
