Warcry

By William “Sunny Dunny” Dunhurst (A Daeva Vampire)

All your legends paint creatures of the “unknown” as terrible, evil monsters that would be the downfall of humanity.

Nazi propaganda painted the Jews as terrible monsters that would be the downfall of humanity.

The difference is that this time, the totalitarian racists are The Powers That Be here in good ol’ America.

We so-called “creatures of the night” and our brethren have done nothing to harm humanity in the way The Powers That Be have. We haven’t oppressed the working man or caused the insanely large gap between the wealthy and the poor.

Your legends say we terrorize you mortals. We only do what we need to survive, and we do not intentionally harm anyone with reason to live. We don’t use you as pawns or force you into unnatural slavery. We only do what we have done for millennia.

Yet The Powers That Be have enforced their corrupt status quo for, at most, a few hundred years. Some groups have been around only for a half a century. Yet they have done more harm to the common populace than we gifted beings have ever done.

If The Powers That Be did not exist, we would not even war. We would peacefully coexist with humans and each other. We would help keep up a better standard of living for the common man. And, most importantly, the everyman would know we exist.

The lattermost is essential because with this knowledge, your Average Joe would realize that he cannot understand everything and thus cannot control everything. This would stop ambitious mortals from taking over. This would therefore allow for a continuous state of peaceful living between everyone.

Even if you don’t believe a balance would be maintainable, we would at least improve conditions. Don’t believe us? Well, things couldn’t get any worse than they are now.

Did you know that the only people in the middle class work for either the corporations, in research and development, or the government? It’s true. Ninety-eight percent of the middle class population works in one of these areas. The middle class live in their neat suburban homes or their neo-modern downtown condos, leaving the poor to live in the apartment tenements of the city cores or the often-ignored ghettos.

The higher-class consists of those that show particular success in the three above-listed fields. This upper echelon, around five or seven percent of the population, is the equivalent of the Bourgeois class of pre-revolution France or the Inner Party of Orwell’s 1984. The ruling capitalists uphold the status quo through black-budgeting and secret armies. They keep the downtrodden under their well-manicured feet. They leave the working family to live in squalor while they live in extravagant mansions or main-street penthouses. From their high place, they look down on their slaves and laugh, knowing that the only threat would be someone that could organize them into a revolutionary force.

Someone. Or something.

The lower class (and I’m talking poverty, here) is everyone else. The hard-working physical laborers that built this country now live in neglect. Those who didn’t choose the live of the soulless corporate bureaucrat or the government thug or the frail scientist are the underbelly of today’s society. These men are half the population, yet they get no representation or voice.

Now that’s sad.

We, the “anomalies” that The Powers That Be have so tastefully called us, want to help the oppressed common man. It was we who orchestrated the Chicago riots, not some mundane anarchist. We advocated unionship when the conservative movement brainwashed the general population into thinking that rights-protecting organizations were evil. We founded the Enlightenment and began the Communist revolutions. We never stop fighting for the everyman, even if we get nothing in return. We’re the real good guys of this grand tale we call life.

So the next time you hear a legend about a seductive blood-sucker raping and killing innocent humans, think of who’s really fighting for you.
