Fly

by Galan Mayas

I try, and I try.

I try so hard because

I want you to fly.

Despite the world’s flaws.

                   Like an eagle up above

                   Perched on the tree…tree

                   On top of the mountain

On top of the world. So free…free

          Me…

In a garden, all the little fairies

That only you and I can see…see

                   And if any injustice done

You will never let it be…be

          Thee…

I try, and I try.

I try so hard because

I want you to be free.

Despite the world unjust.

                   Like a child’s insaciable curiousity

Always asking “why, why, why, why, why , why?”…why

                   But sometimes it stops

And heard is the question “why try?’…try

          I…

With a little touch and reassuarance

Your spirits soar oh so high…high

Then something simple as a word

Breaks that spirit and makes you cry…cry

          Thy…

I try, and I try.

I try so hard because

I don’t want you to cry.

Despite being trapped in this world’s unrelenting jaws.
