Appearance:

Justin has both Fennec and Red fox blood, giving him a deep brown color, cedar or sandalwood. His ears are very large and floppy even by fennec standards and they stick out. He has a pale tan mask over his eyes with bright brown eyes. His eyes are brown with red and orange flecks. Like two silver rubies. His tail resembles a fennec fox, very thin and scraggly.

He is a muscular bulky fox, with big curvacaceous muscles. Like Slyvester Stallone rather than the leaner muscles of most fighters. When he was a child he was slightly overweight. Naturally he puts on weight and it is through discipline and self abuse he has perfected his physique.

The traditional garb of the Martian Prince, is hijab, a practice of covering one’s hair and face taken from the Moslem tradition, except instead of for women it is used for men. As Don Karnage he does not wear hijab.

He wears a blue long sleeved muscle shirt with a black stripe, with the collar ventilated.

He has a vibrant red cape closed by a ridiculously large ruby clasp, signifying his royal status.

He also wears an ornate Martian warbelt. It is very complex and symbolic. Showing his clan the status of his father, his role of Captain of the Star Vulture.

Justin is never without his diamond ring. It was a woman’s ring, a diamond in the shape of a half moon. Voltaire found him on Earth and gave it to him as a symbol of his eternal love. Since Diamonds have less value in the future, he is often criticized for wearing such a tacky worthless stone. But he refuses to part with it. He also wears a bracelet of black beads. To commemorate his mourning his lost lover. He has sworn to wear it as long as he and his Voltaire are parted.

Distinguishing Marks:

Justin has a knick in his left ear, (from a duel with Voltaire Sputterspark). He doesn’t notice it. What he is more self conscience is his left eye. It is weaker and has a thin blue film over it. He has perfect vision but occasionally it wanders when he is relaxed. The difference is negligable to a casual observer. He also wears an eyepatch when he is Don Karnage. It is how he gets into character.

Early Childhood:

Justin is the bastard Prince of Mars and heir to the throne of her August Majesty Serena of Mars. Justin was taken from his mother as a baby since he was the only heir to Serena’s great grandson Mamorou Coxcombe. When his mother Miriam Polloero (a long lost descendant of the original Don Karnage) defied the order, she was banished without food and water to the Martian Desert for High Treason. The only evidence she existed was Justin and a small votive statue in the royal garden at the altar of Joresh, Goddess who looks down in Amusement. (Which became his patron deity) He was adopted by Serena and his mother’s fiance, Prince Reynaldo of Rivera.

Even as a child, the circumstances of his birth have followed him in a cloud of shame. "Duelson" meaning his mother would not defend her virtue in battle or suicide. Not to mention he looked like Miriam. His father was ashamed of the betrayal and took it out on his young son.

Martian society is lax about physical abuse. Since Martian’s ride horses, train with weapons from an early age, they often accept injuries as accidents. So the cuffing, the black eyes and the broken wrists went ignored. Even under the strict standards of Martian parenting Reynaldo was a beast.

Justin was given into the care of a band of traveling performers from the age of 3 to 7. His father sent him to live amoung the common man so he would not grow soft. He learned slight of hand, (a skill he still practices) He also learned to love horses and his Martian homeland.

Justin was a relatively healthy child, if not a tad chubby. Immediately Reynaldo became angry that his son was weak.

When he was 6 he met Voltaire Sputterspark, the love of his life. Voltaire was the son of the Keeper of Time and Lord Kitsune, Martian Keeper of Light (the rulers of Earth). He gave him his first pair of shoes, from Justin’s recollection.

Teen:

At the age of seven Justin was sent to School. He was educated in all the graces of a gentleman. History, Poetry, Drawing, Mathematics and The Natural sciences, Deportment, Elocution and of course music. He is a talented tenor. Justin was a diligent voice student, studying under the famous Jose Karaoke Jr. It was his favorite field of study. If it hadn’t have been for his royal responsibilities he would have become a singer.

But the true judge of any Martian gentleman was fighting prowess. Justin had great skill in his fighting abilities. Yet the second he left the arena he reverted to a scared, shy boy whose father was a lecher and his mother was a traitor. Because of his chubbiness, and his alienation from his father and eventually his Grandma, he was a lonely one. The pressure to excell and perfect himself for the good of his people drove him to the edge.

It was at this time Voltaire Sputterspark came to Battle School. Voltaire being a Earthling, hybrid and uneducated in the ways of Mars, was even more of an outcast than he was. Immediately they related. They became inseperable friends.

At the age of 13, he was given his first title, on the night of his first Music recital. The timid thirteen year old sang one of his favorite Mozart arias. His Grandma Serena was so pleased she commissioned his portrait and gave him the title Baron du Coxcombe, after his ancestor Derek "Steelbeak" Coxcombe.

Late Teen:

At the age of sixteen a skirmish broke out in the vicinity of Jupiter. At this time Justin was on his first tactical practice. With no chance of rescue from the Imperial Martian Navy, Justin planned and executed a successful defence, with only two casualties. It was a rout that sent the Pokemon over the DMZ.

Justin became a planetary hero over night. In Martian custom as a hero of the battle he was given the Title Victor of Battle of Io. Justin never used to praise and adulation was immediately disconcerted.

Another confusing part of this time was his relationship with Voltaire. Never interested in girls (except as fellow warriors and chaste objects of courtly love to impress) and quite naieve of these things by his own admission, he developed something much deeper than friendship for his friend. But Voltaire, more worldweary and experienced in love became frightened. He did everything to push Justin away and deny his love. Voltaire’s denial was damaging to Justin. It became violent at one point.

Voltaire called him "A barbarian and a bastard"

They had a duel which Justin lost by default. Voltaire zapped him and he fell unconscious

With the loss of his warrior’s prowess, he became suicidal. If it hadn’t been for Voltaire’s love he never would have healed.

But all was not solved with the young lovers. Voltaire’s mother found out about their relationship and threatened to send Voltaire back to Earth. Justin’s father was less than pleased. In a pyschotic rage Reynaldo beat him with a club over the head. He tried to beat Justin to death and left his battered bruised body on Voltaire’s doorstop.

Justin barely had enough time to recover before the trouble began. War with Earth was imminent. Justin and Voltaire did the Martian ceremony of Terim Tanakai. They exchanged rings and vows, and said goodbye in a tiny pocket of time long before any of them were born, St. Canard 2005.

After this The Keeper of Time was killed. Making Voltaire Keeper of Time, much to early, and the ruler of an enemy planet.

He is not sure of the circumstances that happened between the Victory of Terra and the destruction of Reality. All he knows is that Voltaire tackled him from his horse and their was a horrible storm and everything on Mars disappeared into the desert.

Present:

A Martian at heart, whether it is his home or not. He has recently commited himself to the end of Terran Control of Mars, for he knew the indignity of colonization causes on a people. He has found a true destiny as Captain of the Time Pirates.

The Time Pirates like himself are refugees of destroyed time lines and outcasts of society. They found a alien space cruiser (the silver class of Space Ship) and alternate between the Martian desert inspiring the Martian people to join in the revolution and the Depths of space, salvaging ship wrecks, helping aliens and irritating the heck out of the Terran Navy. They have many enemies at SHUSH as well.

The Time Pirates worst enemy is the Mars Corporation, a company owned by the McDucke Family. Much like the East India Company the corrupt intermediaries oppress the colonists in a mercantilistic regime. The ultimate goal of Don Karnage is to alert the Terran Council of the abuses of the Corporation and give Mars an independent nation.

Weapons: He has a red lightsaber. He stole it from an alien named Skywalker, when they first found the Star Vulture. Only he prefers to use it as a one handed saber. He practices with a two handed sword, but prefers to swordfight in a more gentlemanly way. It’s strange to see a warrior his size stand like that, but he is just talented enough to pull it off.

Tools: He is in possession of a Molecular Accelerator Ray where by he can send himself through time. (Of course he usually shows up naked and barfing). The device was invented as a speed ray, Darkwing Duck was once shot by it and got speed powers, Negaduck tried to use it to age St. Canard into oblivion..

Fighting Style: Martian School Quack Fu.

Dislikes: Oracle, being enclosed, heavy metal (he is such a softie he prefers ballads, show tunes and things with lyrics that "he can sing") Horse thieves, Coloumbe Sputtersparque. Hijab, spicy food.

Greatest fear: Being tied up or trapped. His father once left him tied outside to a stone pillory. He was frightened of snarfidrax and ghosts. He is an animist and believes in ghosts and spirits.

Don Karnage represents one of the most intractable time conundrums on the record. The problem begins not in the past but in the future. It is called an Ouroboros, the snake that devours itself for all eternity.

When Justin was thrust into our timeline, he found a Don Karnage Comic Book, based on the legend of Don Karnage. Justin, a warrior pirate fox dressed in red and blue wished to see if he really existed. So he traveled in time using the Speed Ray (which only he and the other Time Pirates can use without dying or losing their memory) trying to find Don Karnage. Of course the people he visited were so impressed by the image and name they started using it. Beginning in the crusades with his ship the Vulture, all the way up to the 1920’s Iron Vulture. The Legend of the Fox in blue and red with a flaming red sword passed from father to son. After WWII, the legend of Don Karnage became a comic book , "Sensational Tails of the Air Pirates starring Captain Cloudkicker"

So In reality he is the real Don Karnage, which he based his image on, which the comic was based on. Even though he was inspired by the comic.

The paradox he created has created a universal holding pattern for the Martian people. As long as there is Don Karnage there will be a Mars.

Reflections:

Justin is above all a true gentleman. He is brave and his nobility is unshakable. He has lived through everything and still maintained his integrity. Rather than curl up and die, he wears his hardship like a badge of honor.

He is very self sacrificing, the first to take a bullet, the first to spring of a trap, the first to put himself on the line. This has put him in grave danger sometimes. He believes in the goodness of people, and gives even those who hurt him the worse a second chance. He is slow to anger and quick to forgive. Despite the fearsome exterior and his deadly skills he is still much like the Martian gypsy he has left behind, shy, frightened and unsure of himself. He always tightly reigns his emotions and rarely shows anything except to his one confidant Thorne. Even amoung the Time Pirates, his closest friends, he is very reserved.

But behind closed doors, he is as passionate and sensitive as anyone, and usually explodes because of the pressure he puts on himself to maintain his image as the dashing devil-may-care Pirate Captain. Unlike Voltaire, Justin really is quite timid. But one day through the strength of his love for Voltaire he may come out of his shell.
