| Chapter 3 Susan opened the door to her house as she threw her sleeping bag by the stairs. Her mum looked round to see Susan actually smiling for once. “Nice night was it love?” she asked. “Yeah it was great! We did prank phone calls, we laughed at movies, and we shared our deepest, darkest secrets” Susan told her mum. Mairead Mcfadden’s happy face suddenly changed into a horrified look as she heard her daughter’s last spoken words. “Susan! What have I told ye about telling your so-called friends about Bryan?” She was very angry. “Ma, trust me on this one! Jody is different! She’s the bestest mate I’ve ever had.” “Oh, it’s that Jody again.” “Yes ma, it’s that Jody again” Susan rolled her eyes as she picked up her sleeping bag ready to take upstairs. “By the way, Bryan called about 15 minutes ago, he wants ye to call him back, he has some news for ye.” As Susan heard what her mum had said she rushed upstairs to call her brother. She picked up the phoned and dialled his mobile number. “Hello?” “Hi Bry, Mum said you’ve got news for me.” “Ey, the stranger returns” he chuckled “Where’ve ye been missy?” “I just slept over at my best mate, Jody’s house. She’s a massive fan has of yours. So what’s this news?” “Ah, the girl has taste.” Bryan paused. “BRY!” Susan yelled down the phone. “What?” Bryan loved winding his little sis up. “The News?” “Oh right, the news! I’m coming home for a two week break in two days and I’m gonna spend it with the family unless you’re going to be annoying me for the next two weeks.” “Oh Bry, that’s great news! Ye can meet Jody and you can take me and Jody out in you’re new car you’ve been promising me a ride for, for about 6 months and….” “Hey, slow down Sue!” Bry laughed. “So you have another one of these friend, eh?” “Jesus! Ye sound like ma” Susan moaned. “Only because we care.” Suddenly Susan heard someone call Bryan’s name in the background. “Look sis, be careful with Jody, I don’t want you to get hurt again. I gotta go, bye.” “Bye Bry.” Susan put the phone down and smiled. Before Bry was in the band they seemed like they constantly argued and hated each other. But since the band had started they seemed to get on great. Maybe it was because they had grown older or maybe it was because they both actually missed each other. Whatever it was she was glad to have Bryan as her brother, she wouldn’t want anyone else. Chapter 4 ‘DING DONG’ “I’ll get it!” Susan yelled as she ran down the stairs and opened the door. “Hiya Jodes” Sue said as she hugged Jody. “Thanks for coming, it’s a special dinner to my parents.” Jody was confused, what was so special about this meal? Jody followed Susan in the kitchen where her mum was busy cooking. “Ma, this is Jody” Susan pointed to Jody as Mrs Mcfadden looked up. “So this is Jody then” Mrs Mcfadden said shaking Jody’s hand. “Brendan!” Mairead yelled. “ Our first guest had arrived.” ‘First? How many are turning up?’ Jody thought. Mr Mcfadden appeared from what looked like the dining room. “Ah, welcome Jody, we’ve heard a lot about you.” He winked as she shook his hand. “Come on Jodes, let’s go upstairs while we wait for the other guests.” Susan said running up the stairs as Jody followed. Susan stopped at the top and turned to Jody. “I must warn you, compared to your room, my bedroom is….” Suddenly someone emerged from the room next to Susan’s. “Hey squirt, talking to yourself again?” a male voice shouted just before he left the room. “Oh…you have a friend.” It was Bryan! Jody froze as she saw her hero in front of her. ‘Oh My God’ she thought ‘he’s more gorgeous than I thought.’ Bryan stood still too, his sparkling blue eyes on the girl standing next to Susan. “Come on Jodes. Ye don’t wanna talk to that plonker.” Susan said pulling Jody into her bedroom and shutting the door. “That was….that was…” Jody was gobsmacked. “Yes, Bryan’s home.” Susan rolled her eyes. Bryan walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. “Ma?” “Yes dear?” “Who’s that girl with Sue?” “Oh, that’s Jody, Susan’s best friend, a lovely girl she is. Never seen Susan so happy.” His ma replied. “Oh right, any of the lads came yet?” “No dear.” “Oh Ok, I’m going into the lounge then.” Bry told his ma. “Ok, that’s nice.” Mairead was far to busy concentrating on the cooking to pay any attention to her son. Bry sat down on the chair and turned on the TV. “Good Old Irish TV, I’ve missed ye.” He said to himself. But he couldn’t ask her out, he was already dating Kerry plus what would the press think about a 3-year age gap? What would the lads think? But most of all, what would his sister think? |
