Information about Whillie Whillie pronounced WILE _E Whillie started life as a normal healthy german shepherd puppy there was nothing different about her except that whillie didnt seem to be growing at the same rate , two other bitches in the litter seemed to be having the same problem at about 8 weeks it became very ovious that three in the litter of 8 were suffering from growth problems .
They were diagnosed with pituitary dwarfizm one was given to a friend and i decided to keep whilie and rontu .Rontu died from a red back spider bite with in minutes of being bitten . I was heart broken but i still have whillie and she is a wonderfull little girl cheeky playfull protective of me and our property very intelligent and curious about everything .
Whillie comes in to season every month because her pituitary gland which is responsible for regulating her hormone level is not working properly so i will have to get her desexed not just to stop her from coming into season but to help her skin condition. Which can be a real worry at times especially when her hormone levels are high whillie lost all of her body hair she only had the hair on her face head and the back of her neck and it didnt seem to matter how much i fed her she remained very skinny as with most dwarf shepherds whilie was having trouble with her thyroid gland and now has to have thyroxine tablets morning and night which has helped her to grow hair and helped her to put on weight .
She is very healthy now and a real sweetheart whillie came from a litter of 8 puppies there were three long coat bitches , three dwarf bitches and two normal coat males .
Whillie also had very sensative skin and had lots of sores so i had to bath her with selsun blue five which cuts down on the oil in her skin which in turn reduces the amount of bactiria and the risk of skin irriitation and infections she also requires more vitamins added to her food because she is in season so often .
However since desexing whilie she has been able to have her vitamin powder halved and she is looking better which is a plus . She can be fussy sometimes my fault though because i tend to spoil her rotten ,
Whillies life expectancey is about 7 to 8 years she has to be taken care of quite a bit but i dont mind she is such a nice dog and the light of my life she is worth every bit of extra care that she gets and im looking forward to many happy years with her Whillies medication 600 micrograms of oroxine per day and keylomin organic vitamins and minerals tablets, lactobacillus , acidophilus and omega 3 and 6 fatty acids . |
