CENTRE FOR INTEGRATED RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION(CIRDEN)

MISSI0N:

Improving livelihoods through community empowerment and sustainable management of natural resources.

VISION:

CIRDEN envisages general improvement in living standards through the execution of its projects within the next years.

GOAL:

The main goal of CIRDEN is to contribute in alleviating poverty of the rural masses (targetted group), in MAnkon-Bamenda North West Province of Cameroon.This is done through trainings in sustainable Agriculture and Environmental protection.

Awareness is created to the targetted group who are encouraged to use their talents to improve their own living standards in socio-economic initiatives.

OBJECTIVES

  • Promote Environmental protection and conservation
  • Promote Agricultural Development and Animal husbandry
  • Encourage diversification of activities form income generation.
  • Enhance Education and the use for information and communication technology.
  • Promote Eco-tourism
  • Promote reproductive health

TARGET GROUP

  • Women, youths (as most vulnerable population)and
  • Men
  • With focus on the MANKON COMMUNITY SECRET FOREST (MCSF).

APPROACH/METHOD

We use modern participatory working tools which are implemented at all levels to include targetted groups in planning how to meet their needs. This targetted group is therefore a partner to CIRDEN.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • On-going sensitisation/awareness raising sessions
  • Tree domestication, especially Non Timber Forest Products(NTFPs)
  • On-going mapping /zoning of MCSF

NETWORKING/COLLABORATION

CIRDEN is open to collaboration with National and International Organisations with similar goals and ideas, especially WHINCONET.
