Ecotourism in the Mount Cameroon RegionWelcome to the "Chariot of the gods!" Mount Cameroon Ecotourism Organisation(Mount-CEO) is a non-governmental and non-profit-making organisation, created in July 1999 through the initiative of GTZ/Mount Cameroon Project Buea in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, funded by the German Development Service (DED).  The attractions of the region:Flora and fauna: Endemic and endangered species e.g. Prunus africana (a medicinal plant), chimps, forest elephants, drills, red-nosed monkeys, Mt. francolin bird, the Limbe Botanic Garden, with its unique plant collection, just to name a few. The natural vegetation: The region has different types of vegetations; Mangrove forest at the coastline, rain forest and alpine savannah at higher altitude. The coastline: The Atlantic coastline with black sand beaches. Old and most recent craters and lava streams, crater lakes and waterfalls. Historical remains and cultural heritage: The famous elephant dance; the German colonial buildings. Sports: The international mountain race called "The Race of Hope" holds annually in February. We offer you tours ranging from 1 to 8 days.Our trails start from the villages or from Buea and lead you first through farmlands. Most of the trails gradually move into the rainforest, then to the flourishing savannah, to the summit, after which they lead back again to the villages. Every tour package will give you the opportunity to experience nature in its original state and expose you to one of the most beautiful views of nature in the world. In addition to our well-known tours, we furthermore offer excursions to villages, visits to tea plantations, cultural evenings with dancing and singing, as well as typical traditional meals in the villages to our tourists.
