Meeting Dale Jr.
Sept. 4, 2000
The day finally came in which
I was going to meet you.
It was a cloudy and rainy day,
hoping only for the sky to turn blue.
I stood in a line, just as others did,
that stretched for miles long.
Then the time came for your arrival,
but you weren't there, I hoped
nothing was wrong.
An hour passed by and still I waited,
then from beyond the clouds
you flew in.
I couldn't be mad at you for being late,
I only hoped I was able
to see you then.
The hours passed by slowly, then fast,
and the line barely moved
along.
Then when I got closer, I got a glimpse,
of you, and sighed, "Now
Nothing can go wrong!"
I arrived at the table where you
were sitting and giving
out autographs.
I quickly leaned over the table
so the two of us could
be in a photograph.
I thanked you and the other driver's
that were there that
day.
After leaving I felt so awful walking
away, for there were
things I wanted to say.
You are a great driver; glad to see
you've come
this far, and I will
always be your fan into the future.
I look back and I feel blessed
and thankful,
that I was given the
opportunity to meet you, Dale Earnhart Junior.
