My
Beloved Spirit
By
Liz for her precious Spirit
"My Beloved Spirit"
I owned a dog named Spirit,
I adopted her in May
She did not die of medical reasons,
I did not give her away
I had to put her to sleep,
As I cried and cried and cried
She had Rage Syndrome, which we couldn't fix,
I felt like I set my priorities aside
She really was a great dog, though,
Who loved to play tug-of-war
I used to take her on runs,
Very, very far
She really loved being with me
As I loved being with her
Spirit pulled me off the couch,
As we played tug-of-war
She was a really strong dog,
Not as strong as me, though
She jumped high in the air,
And knocked her head on the wall
She twisted and turned,
She really wanted that ball.
She swam in the rivers,
Deeper than she could reach
She brought back sticks,
But really wanted the trees
She caught her Frisbees,
High in the air
She loved to play,
And mess up her hair
She is a very smart dog,
She knows many commands
She knows large phrases,
Like "Get your ball and."
I knew it was coming,
I saw death start to pace
I cried when she left me,
Never to again see her face
I love little Spirit,
So very much
She is a very sweet dog,
That I loved to touch
Spirit was a very sweet dog,
That I will forever miss
I will never forget her,
And I'll always dream of her
I talk to Spirit,
Every night I lay awake
Sometimes I can't sleep,
I don't understand
She's waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge,
She knows she'll see me later
She will be playing tug-of-war,
When she sees me walking through the door
I keep a picture of us,
As I dream of her
I really love you, Spirit,
I know I'll see you later
