rattle snake

rattling along, head down straight t the gates, straight past em straight
what a state t get into
straight laced straight leggd, straight jacket, straight pegged straight t hell, straight t jail
straight t nowhere straight t fail
rattle me, rattle you
got t find something new t do
sometime lose all of my blue
or maybe dig the gods of drugs some one last time again
(lifes more fun when your stoned out of your brain)
rattle and hum
rattle my pain
do my rattle
make me sane
but what pain is this
i eat good dont i
and the seagulls sundive and grin for me
anyway how can i be unhappy when theres ice cream everywhere?
childlike

he plays a sparkling game inside the crystal of his mind
he gives what he can get you
and takes what he can find
ive never been so blessed by anything before
of the love of one so precious
he dances in the shadows
of a world that doesnt see him
the purset kindest loving thing
that could only really be him
hes happy and hes beautiful
and profound like the stars
his way is full of wonder
hes gentle and hes beautiful
and i never will again
meet one that plays so fair
i carry him around inside my head
and in my heart
everywhere i go
and breathe a deep wish,
every single night
that keeps him safe from harm and rules
and laughing and loving and dreaming along
( the mystical light of the east)

raincheck

take a raincheck from the rainstorm
take a break
take a rainbow
channell my rage into better chess
and make a better guess
yes yes
take a raincheck from the rainstorm
take a chance on me
take a ticking ticking time bomb
take it from me
life is a wizard
i am its spell
life is a lizard
i am its sense of smell
i flicker its tongue
into forbidden questions
ignore good sense
and sensible suggestions
life is a rainstorm
i just got wet
and i still havent learned my lessons yet
sadsong

she was never sure
what he meant
in the letters
he never sent
never really sure atall
and she never knew
why he didnt call
she never smelled the flowers
that he never gave her
not sure why
he tried to enslave her
for she gave him all the love she had
he gave her nothing
just made her sad
she wasted long hours crying over spilt milk
and never got round to cleaning it up
this is the poem

this is the poem that won the prize
that hit clean between the judges eyes
the content so funny and full of humour
it caused a temporary forgetfullness of the judges malignant tumor
and never once forgot to rhyme
the judge he read it to all his friends
and even emailed it to a poetry list
to which he sometimes sends
this is the poem that won the loot
for the poet in his second hand suit
who went on stage to collect the prize
and even managed to act surprised
even though he was told two weeks before that he'd won
and that it even got published in the sun
this is the poem that bought the yacht
for the poet, thanks a lot
this is the poem that broke the bank
the camels back, the one to thank
this is the poem that got away
this is the poem, ok
this is the poem that smiled happily
and rhymed along so twist and snappily
this is the poem that secured the deal
this is the poem that a theif tried to steal
once it was famous and worth a few bob
this is the poem, that was just the job
this is the poem that everyone read
every night twice before they went to bed
after everybody had cleaned their teeth
and put the cat out
and it never once forgot to rhyme
the not very good lifeguards
