AginorIn the Age of Legends, there was a man almost as strong in the one power as Lews Therin Telamon, but this man went horribly wrong. Ishar Morrad Chuain was one of the world’s leading biologists but wasn’t much in the way of a fighter. He was also a teacher and lecturer. His ambition was to do more complicated genetic experiments than the ones he was allowed by the Hall of Servants--ones involving human test subjects. The Hall however, would not let him do these experiments, and he was repeatedly punished for trying them on animals. This ambition is what led him astray. Ishar Morrad Chuain turned to the Dark One and became known as Aginor. The Dark One gave Aginor the freedom and resources to do all the experiments he wanted. In the ten-year War of Power, Aginor used approximately 35-55 million men, women, and children for his testing-- not including those that were fed to his experiments. He created Trollocs, Draghkar, Darkhounds, and jumara among other things from those people. He was always wary of the strange throwbacks of the Trolloc blood called Myrddraal and killed hundreds trying to discover the secret of their ability to travel with shadows. Aginor had a brilliant mind but was a bit insane. He also prided himself on his sense of humor. When Lews Therin and the Hundred Companions sealed up the Bore in the Dark One’s prison, Aginor was trapped just below the surface, along with Balthamel. The three thousand years that he was caught there, he was stuck in a never-ending sleep plagued by horrible nightmares. When the seals on the Bore started to weaken, Aginor and Balthamel were the first of the Forsaken to escape the prison. They went to the Eye of the World and met Rand’s party there. They both appeared older than old. “His skin like thin parchment drawn tight over his skull, then pulled tighter still. Wispy tufts of brittle hair stood at odd places on his scabrous scalp. His ears were withered bits, like scraps of ancient leather; his eyes sunken, peering out of his head as if from the ends of tunnels.”(EoTW pg.748) He killed Someshta, the Green Man, and Someshta killed Balthamel. Aginor was then killed by Rand in a battle for the pure saidin kept at the eye of the world. Aginor was later reborn as Osan’gar. ![]() ~ By Zakkaria Harlan ~ Submitted July 2002 as his Youngling project Return to the Forsaken Pages |
