What does it mean to be a member of the White Ajah?
That is a question that many people have, actually.
In The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, the White Ajah is usually described as being dedicated to logic, but this is a fairly limited explanation. Most White Sisters in the series are also intellectual and reasonable, distant and unimaginative. At this Tower, we have attempted to embrace the positive stereotypes and defy the negatives ones. In the final analysis, it needs to be said that there is no definitive description of the White Sisters at our Tower. We each bring our own interpretation to the Ajah, and I believe that it is this flexibility that makes us an interesting group.
So, what can be said about the Ajah? I think it is true for all of us that we joined this Ajah because we like to study the series and develop new ideas about WoT. One of the interesting aspects of the series is the sheer number of unanswered questions, and the White Ajah is best suited to the creation of new theories. Our infamous logic can be very much a part of that.
What other personality traits show up?
Creativity is often seen in our members, which can lead to some entertaining consequences...
Insanity: There aren't really any limits to the ideas that a creative human mind can come up with. Occasionally this has led to some pretty strange theories (I never say the theories were wrong), and accusations of insanity ensue. :-)
Humor: Again, all it takes is thought and creativity. Some White Sisters have spent so much time looking at the series from alternate angles that they can see which parts are innately funny, and can make up some good WoT-related wisecracks.
Playfulness: Whites are not all serious! There's a certain amount of playfulness lurking in all of us, and where better to express it than by poking fun at all the White stereotypes? ;-)
Yes, but what does the White Ajah do here?
Lots of things:
- Come up with top quality crazy ideas!
- Help other Sisters develop their crazy ideas
- Organize a Comedy Club for the Tower, and make up jokes
- Provide calm and reasoned advice for the Amyrlin Seat when asked
- Maintain an archive for the Amyrlin Seat
- Occasionally play pranks on other members
- Be full of all kinds of helpful information
- Have a heck of a lot of fun doing all that!

Members' quotes
Truthfully, I just...FIT...in the White Ajah. I can come up with some Theories, and I really like to discuss the Hows, Whys, and Why nots of the books, and what may or may not happen. I like to crack a few jokes. I may even cause some mischief. But I really dig to research too.
~ Eilidh Arimath, Sister of the White Ajah
If you are White, you can speak gibberish in an authorial manner and everyone will nod and say that that was exactly what they thought on the matter because they aren't willing to admit that they are really clueless.
