Sonny almost couldn't handle what he was seeing. "Jax, over here." Sonny grabbed his cell phone and called 911 as Jax pushed him out of the way.
Jax felt for a pulse in her neck and let out a sigh of immense relief at the first beat. "Alexis, wake up." He looked down at Alexis face. The entire right side was covered in blood coming from a cut that seemed to be just below the hairline. Her arms were twisted underneath her and her breathing was so shallow he had to stare intently just to see her chest rising and falling. "Okay wife, rise and shine," he said softly.
Sonny completed the phone call and handed his handkerchief to Jax. "Put pressure on that cut on her face, its bleeding to much." Jax was having trouble interpreting words and when he hesitated a bit too long, sonny grabbed his hand and put it down softly on her face. Jax let him not even seeming to notice. "Jax, I called the police. Now listen to me. Is there anything here in the penthouse that they can't find."
Jax looked stunned at the question. Sonny continued, "Is there anything here that they can't find, a letter from Jerry, proof of our collusion to send him out of the country?"
Jax came back. "Yes, yes there is, there is the proof that I knew what he was doing before the Fed's found out. Its in the top shelf of the desk." He looked down at Alexis she started to cough. "Alexis.... Oh and the bottom drawer there are papers of Alexis' that she has important things about her family on."
Sonny flipped the desk back upright and noticed that all the drawers were cleaned out. "Jax they are gone."
"All of them." Jax asked panicking.
"All of them." Sonny said resolutely. "Could this have been Moreno's men, checking to see if you have anything on them."
Jax hesitated to answer. He was so worried about Alexis. "She doesn't seem to be breathing right, Sonny."
Sonny knelt down by her and said, "But she's still breathing."
"That's all that matters right now." Jax said stroking her hair with his free hand. The paramedics burst in and started to work on her. They were getting her on the stretcher, when Jax noticed that Sonny was answering all of their questions.
Jax started to follow them out. They stopped him, we have a nurse on ride-a-long with our team, we don't have room for a passenger. Jax fear intensified, wanting to be at her side. He grabbed his car keys and headed out the door. Sonny jumped in the elevator behind him. "Oh know you don't, " he said swiftly grabbing the keys from Jax's hand. "You are not in any condition to drive right now. My driver will take you."
The fact that Jax didn't even protest was proof to Sonny that he had done the right thing. 'Why am I helping him?' Sonny told himself it was what anyone would do in this situation.
'Why is he helping me?' 'Why was he trying to protect me in there about the papers?' Jax was stunned. This was the man that wouldn't 'spit on him if he were on fire.' That was blown all to hell, in the heat of one panicky moment. 'He's doing this for Alexis, for Brenda.' Jax thought. That's the only explanation.
Once they were in the limo and Sonny had told Johnny to step on it. Sonny asked Jax again. "Do you think this was Moreno?"
Jax looked at Sonny and decided he had to talk this out. "It could have been, but then why would they have taken papers from Alexis' desk about her family?"
"They could have been in a hurry, but mob stuff is usually a bit cleaner than that and as much as I hate Moreno's organization, they aren't woman beaters. But Jax would her family hurt her?"
"They've tried to kill her before. It had to have been her family. Now they have information on Jerry and things that Alexis could get killed for knowing. Damn her family!!!!!!! She's been so happy with a new family. We thought this was over."
Sonny was surprised at Jax's depth of emotion. He had been suspicious of the Jack's marriage ever since Jax hadn't raised a fuss about her representing him. He was sure now though that whatever Jax and Alexis had married for, there was a great deal of caring on Jax's side. 'Why do I care about this?'
They arrived at the hospital and Jax jumped out before the limo had completely stopped. Sonny told himself to 'Leave' he'd done his good deed for the day. "Johnny pull over, I'm gonna go check on Ms. Davis, or Jacks or whatever.
