Misery Made Beautiful - Chapter 11

The diner had picked up again and Liz went back to work. She drained herself in her work trying to think about her dance with Lucky and their "almost kiss." Lucky had slipped out of the diner when Liz was in the kitchen. His mind was still realing from what happened between them earlier and he just needed some fresh air to clear his head and calm his hormones. After only being with Liz once and being gone for five years his desire for her was growing by the second.

Lucky again made it to the docks. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Jason looking out at the water. It's now or never Lucky thought to himself as he walked down the stairs.

Lucky: Jason.

Jason spun around at the sound of his name being called. As soon as he made eye contact with Lucky his emotions went wild. Jason thought about how happy he was so see Lucky alive, but then his heart sunk because of how he felt for Liz.

Jason: Hey Lucky. It's nice to see you again.

Lucky: I'm guessing you knew I was back?

Jason: Umm yeah, Liz…..Liz told me

Lucky: Listen Jason about Elizabeth…

Jason: (cuts him off) Lucky I really don't think this conversation is necessary.

Lucky: Well I do. I just wanted you to know that I'm not going to interfere with your relationship with Elizabeth. I know she moved on and I'm glad she found someone who cares for her. You won't get any trouble from me, besides Elizabeth has made it clear she is with you now. However….I do have you ask you for one favor.

Jason: Anything.

Lucky: Please take care of her.

Jason: I will, you have my word.

Lucky: Thanks.

Just then Liz came on to the docks and was surprised to see Lucky and Jason in what looked like a deep conversation. This made Liz uneasy. She made her way to the two guys.

Liz: Am I interrupting something.

Lucky: No I was just leaving.

Lucky turned to leave. He walked up the stairs and Jason and Liz watched him till he was out of their sight. Jason felt a little relief, but no matter what Lucky said Jason knew he was still in love with Liz.

Liz: Are you going to tell me what that was about.

Jason: He ah just wanted me to know that he understands that we are together and that he's glad you found someone…..else.

Liz: (shocked) He said that?

Jason: Are you surprised?

Liz: No umm…relieved.

Jason took Liz in his arms and kissed her. He wrapped his arms about her and Liz rested her head on his shoulder. Liz knew full well she just lied to Jason's face, she was not relived, not in the least.
