“Make sure its Taggert and he’s by himself,” Lucky barked as he moved out of the direct line of sight.
Elizabeth looked through the peephole. “It’s him.” She quickly opened the door. “Lt. Taggert. Come in.” She shut the door behind him, locked and bolted it.
“What’s up, Miss Webber?”
“Well, its about Lucky.”
“Miss Webber, you know that case is closed. It was an accident.”
“Not exactly,” Lucky answered as he stepped out for Taggert to see.
Taggert was shocked to see Lucky. “Lucky?”
“Not quite as dead as you thought, huh? Brilliant detective work, Taggert. No one even suspected foul play. And it was so foul, you could smell it.”
Taggert was still speechless, so Lucky went on. “Just kill some poor innocent useless kid, falsify some medical records, start a fire, and boom, no one realizes you just pulled off a kidnapping.”
“You were kidnapped?” Taggert looked suspicious. “Man, you Spencer’s have a bad habit of coming back from the dead. Want to tell me more about this time?”
“I was kidnapped by some goon named Caesar Faison. He held me at a compound about 10 miles out of town. Very high tech facility. I can show you where it is. I escaped tonight by tricking one of his goons and using him as a decoy. There is a chance that Helena Cassadine is in on the deal too.”
“So is this Faison guy at the compound?” Taggert was beginning to take some notes.
“No. That’s the problem. He left about 2 weeks ago and I don’t have any idea where he is. I also don’t know where my dad is. Look Taggert, I’m not lying to you. The guy is unbelievable. He had goons and cameras all over the place watching Elizabeth. He told me if I escaped, he’d kill her immediately. That’s why I had to wait until he was gone to escape. That’s also why we came here to hide.”
Taggert continued to frown at Lucky. The story was pretty wild, but the kid seemed to be telling the truth. “OK, I believe you, Lucky. You did the right thing by calling me. I need to go back to the station and get some information on this Faison guy. Mrs. Cassadine is easy at the moment. She’s had a stroke or something and is at Wyndemere. Can’t communicate at all.” Taggert closed his notebook and started to leave.
“Look, Taggert, you can’t tell anyone about this, OK? I’m telling you man, this Faison is bad news. And if Helena was in on it, then Stefan might be too. So even my mom can’t know I’m alive yet.” Lucky got right in Taggert’s face. This was too important to let Taggert have any doubts about how he felt. “I didn’t want to call you, but I was out of choices. Don’t blow this, man. Elizabeth’s life is at stake.”
Taggert could see Lucky’s determination. “OK, OK. My lips are sealed. I’ll check back with you in a little while. Don’t leave this room. I’ll have a guard posted outside. Do you need anything?”
“No, just to find Faison and stop him.”
Taggert turned to go. “Thank you, lieutenant,” Elizabeth smiled at him as she put her arm around Lucky. “We appreciate it.”
