23/9 Cromwell 4:2 WHLRFC Scorers: Jason, Lee MotM: TT Goals from substitutes Jason and Lee kept WH tally of 2 per game going. Jason drove a ball from outside the box which dropped just over the keeper and below the crossbar. Lee, atoning for deflecting the ball past Dean for Cromwell's third headed a rebound off of the crossbar from TT's effort into the back of the net. Meanwhile despite no shows from Rob, Neil and Grant, Toby's birthday party got underway. Toby set the pace rolling with the first round whilst at the same time Russell, Clint and TT sneaked into the car park for extra curicular activities. Rounds flowed and even Jason's girlfriend got involved before Liam could be persuaded to part with his money. Toby demonstrated the ability to down in one alcopops consectively. With Jason and Lee both Happy Hammers the party set off for the Lytton Tree for a few spirits and as Toby sneaked out the back the bouncers searched for him to throw him out the front. Realising the purchase of further drink was banned there the happy party staggered to the White Hart for beer and pool and a return to the action by a sober Neil, however at this stage the memory of events is a blur. WH: Dean, Liam, Nick, Toby, Rob (Lee), Neil, Geordie, Grant (Jason), TT, Ross, Clint. |
30/9 Old Brewery 3:2 WHLRFC Scorers: Ade, Craig MotM: Jason Facing a strong wind in the first half the WH had to withstand a number of early attacks but the defence and particularly Dean were up to keeping the Brewery attack from scoring. After 30 mins WH forced a corner which was swung in from Jason and found Clint on the 6 yard line unmarked, he headed down for his strike partner Ade who turned and shot only for the ball to rebound from a goal line clearance back to him as he lay flat on the ground. Swinging his right boot to the ball he made no mistake second time. Taking advantage of the conditions a long clearance from the Brewery keeper cleared the defence and the striker was able to nip in front of the on rushing Dean to put the ball home. WH took the lead once more as a throw in from Dean was flicked on in the box by Ade, the flick found Neil who with a short pass set up Craig in space who side footed neatly into the corner of the net. The game was then turned on its head as the referee penalised Toby for tackle when he had clearly won the ball. Penalty 2-2. This lifted the Brewery who once more got their forward in behind the defence to find the net. More fine saves from Dean kept the score down as WH struggled but failed to get past their regular tally of two goals. WH: Dean, Rob (Ritchie), Nick, Toby, Craig, Liam, Geordie, Jason, Neil, Ade (Russell), Clint |
7/10 WHLRFC 1:0 ASTV (Alton) Hampshire Cup round 1 Scorer: TT MotM: TT At least 50% of the side were nursing severe hangovers and some still seriously drunk as they took the pitch as an after effect of Englands world cup qualification. This was evident as in the first minute as Lee missed a clearance and the striker got in behind the defence only for Dean to make a fine save. The only goal of the game came after 15 minutes as a cross from Liam on the right was weakly headed away to the incoming TT on the left flank who brought the ball down and was able to fire past the keeper from 8 yards for his first WH goal. ASTV's burly striker caused one scare late in half as he shot just over but that was the end of any serious attacking from the Alton team. In the second half Grant set up Clint twice and Ross once for one on ones that were missed or saved. TT scuffed a shot that hit the post and Jason volleyed narrowly over from a corner. A deserved victory for the WH if only by a single goal. Bring on the IOW. Team: Dean, Liam, Lee, Toby, Rob, Neil (Ritchie), Grant, Geordie, TT, Jason, Clint (Ross). |
21/10 Wagon & Horses 5:0 WHLRFC MotM: Liam North Hants Cup Round 1 They are two divisions above us and showed it with their skillful finishing. Liam had a great shot excellantly saved and Ross had what appeared to be a straight forward goal badly disallowed as it was called offside after Geordie had squared it. Other than that stupid cup don't know why we bother to enter it. Team: Dean, Rob (Nick) Lee, Toby, Craig (ritchie), TT, Liam, Geordie, Jason, Neil, Ross |
28/10 WHLRFC 6:0 FC Western Scorers: Clint 3 Geordie, Craig, Nick MotM Clint Clint found space at the far corner to slide in Jasons cross for the first. Geordie then found himself onside from the half way line and powered forward and with the goalie to beat amazingly shot on target and past the keeper for the second. Clint then found space to drill home for the 3rd. It took till the 80th minute to find the 4th as a cross from TT found Clint but the defender cleared as far as Craig on the edge of the box who drove hard into the corner. Clint then after being frustrated by a niggly referee for most of the game powered home from the edge of the box into the top corner, the goalof the game. Finally Nick met a set piece from TT to nod home from a yard his standard distance. Team: Dean, Liam, Toby, Nick, Craig, TT, Geordie (Rob), Paul, Jason, Ritchie (Ade) Clint |
4/11 WHLRFC 5:7 aet Woolsbridge Utd Hampshire Cup Round 2. Scorers: Ross 2 Clint (pen) Toby Lee A bizarre game against Bournemouth visitors. The first half showed no signs of what was to come. WU opened the scoring but within 30 seconds Craig had found TT who went to the by line to square for Ross to tap in. A similar move saw Clint miss a gaping open goal. The first 20 minutes of the second half were all out WH pressure but the only thing to suffer were the trees behind the goal. WU then scored after two shots were blocked the third got home. Clint then with an open goal hit the diving player on the line who handled and saw Red Clint neatly sent home the punty. Within seconds 10 man WU had exploited Nick's dalliance on the ball and shot home via the inside post. Toby then rose well to meet Jasons corner 3-3. Ross volleyed home before a 30 yard equaliser from WU into the top corner. 4-4 full time. At the restart Toby was caught on the ball and Ade was chipped . WU then scored another as their centre forward walked the ball in. WU's final goal came as a corner was not dealt with and the forwards knees deflected the ball home. Lee then finally bundled the ball in with the final kick. A very disappointing performance as chances were wasted and defensive errors galore. Team: Ade, Liam, Toby (Lee) Nick, Craig, TT, Geordie, Paul, Jason, Ross, Clint. |
