The Font, certainly one of the earliest parts of the church, the font dates from Norman times. Made of beautifully carved local stone it has been the baptissimal font for Clowne over 900 years. At the rear of the font, (not shown here) is a stone step on which the priest stands during the baptism.. The stairs to the left rear of the picture ,lead to the gallery and the bell ringers loft. The door behind the font leads to the tower. The main door of the church is on the left. |
