Peace and Love

Country road swaying pines

Maple trees those dusty white lines

I see a figure of a man on this road

I remember him from a long time ago

Tell me Mr. where have you been

Did your broken heart ever mend?

Did you hold on to your place?

I could tell by the look on his face

I've see this man on his front porch at night

And I can see that he gave up the fight

And I can tell by the lines on his face

That peace and love once lived in his place

That dusty road that lead to his home

Boarded windows the place was alone

Weeds growing on the front porch

He lost the fight when he turn in his torch

I watched him set his place on fire

Then he sat there and got a little higher

I could tell from the tears on his face

That peace and love once lived in this place

Peace and love once lived in this place
